    GT2 Launch Control

tried the launch control on my GT2 and it is great. perfect starts off the line....even if there was no actual line

in addition, i read in some porsche literature, that it actually puts less load on the clutch than high rpm starts in cars without launch control as it modulates the power.

the sensation was great. some little wheel hop and then the slingshot kicks in.

    Re: GT2 Launch Control

    launch control ,
on the M5 it's quite an experience, but I would go to Egypt to try it with a GT2 ..
    smoke those tires!

I have done mine about 5 times. Dealer seems to think that it might limit the clutch life. I don't know. How about the awesome sound when the rev limiter hits 5k rpms and the motor seems to pump or slightly fluctuate in rpms of about 200? The sound of the power and thumping is strong to say the least. You are definitely shifting into 2nd imediately and I have had a hard time just watching the road before I hit the rev limiter. AWESOME option!

yup, it's almost impossible not to hit the rev limiter

    It's not even an option.

    It's standard.

Thank you for the trivial insight. It is an option to either use it on occasion to enjoy, or to just stand on the gas without the launch. The statement was not made based on a purchase issue, but more a use issue. Better put, Launch Control is cool, and will become a new option to have for other 911 users in the future.

    It's standard.

Fritz was simply making a play on words, teasing you for using the word "option" which, in Porsche car-ordering parlance, is codeword for a pricey add-on to a car's base price. So making it "standard" is a bonus for the "cost-conscious" GT2 buyer.

    Re: GT2 Launch Control

Now that was a good one. Glad we didn't have to pay extra.

    Happy Birthday!!

Guess you are out enjoying your GT2, GREAT way to spend your birthday if so

    Re: GT2 Launch Control

The official blurb on launch control...

    Re: GT2 Launch Control

Wonder how fast and strong this car will be when PDK gets to be on it? I would call that a demon with a bad attitude. I bet we could get 3 second 0-60. Maybe they won't charge us for it.
Yep, found the 165 mph mark and there is so much more under my foot. Love those far out county roads that have new asphalt on em.

I just revisited this thread and saw this post. Thanks Al, for your clarification on my behalf.
I threw in my insight mainly for the benefit of those who don't know the 997 GT2 and therefore might not realize that the launch control is indeed standard.
Your last line sums up my line of thought when I wrote my post very nicely.
