Just heard from my dealer that PSE is NOT a current option when speccing a MK11 facelift.

    Surely this can't be true??

It is an option, if I could remember it costs about Pounds1,216

Yes it is an option but not on the very first cars.... I think it is introduced from build week 28 (same as X51). I wanted it but could not have it as part of the factory build. My dealer has agreed to retro fit it for the same price....

you're right I was able to order the PSE since C4s won't be out until after wk28

Re: 997 Facelift - Official Specs

Yep i got the same info: no pse and x51 in JULY

Re: 997 Facelift - Official Specs

I placed an early order for the new 997 in March 08, I was given a choice to get the first few in the UK, late July before the factory closed.....but I couldn't get the spec I wanted, basically I could only choose the colour and the basic extras mentioned on the leaked documents, I couldn't order the sports exhust or the factory collection etc.....so I have decided to wait until first deliveries in Sept and get what I want.

Is this normal in a new release and when does the factory close?

Re: 997 Facelift - Official Specs

my info. says X51 effective Jan. 09

factory closes in august I think, X51 will be for sept onwards

Re: 997 Facelift - Official Specs

Anyone know if my Fabspeed mufflers currently on my 2007 Carrera S will fit the 2009 Carrera S? Are the dimensions the same?

There was a discussion some weeks back based on german magazine's info, that it may be a 7 speed manual. This is highly unlikely IMO.
I presume it means different gear ratios.

Re: 997 Facelift - Official Specs

hopefully more sporty then do people think the upshift indicator will have option for sporty changes and/or economical..... that would be cool

Your car already has an upshift indicator for sporty changes . . . it's called the "redline".

Probably just means it has different gearing than the current 997 to be better suited for the facelift 997 engine with DFI (i.e. more power and torque).

I doubt that is it. 10% (at most) more power and torque would not warrant a significant gearing change, unless the torque curve or redline is significantly changed. With increased compression (the benefit of DFI), the increase is fairly uniform over the rev range.

Didn't Porsche change the gearing in the 6 speed from the Boxster 986S to 987S? Yeah, the difference in power was a bit bigger, but still miniscule. I think something like 25hp?

I think the gearing was only changed to accommodate the 19" wheels (no significant net change to gearing, afaik).

...with 345hp? Tell me other car that is faster in that class-with just 345hp?

that is very fast, for us UK guys

    Carrera 180mph
    Carrera S 187mph

I was told that with the LC you get a few more hp (inside info from a Porsche guy) is this really true. He said there is an increase in torque for a few secs.

Re: 997 Facelift - Official Specs

ALso Launch Control for the Manual versions, like GT2?

Kreso, the top speeds that you wrote for carrera and carrera S are with manual gearbox or PDK?grazie

my guess is that the topspeeds will be the same for both, possibly faster using the PDK

Re: 997 Facelift - Official Specs

Top speed is the SAME for manual and PDK.

    thanks!

Re: 997 Facelift - Official Specs

Well, you can make a big difference to interior noise intrusion by being selective about what tyres are indeed fitted to your car.
E.g. stay away from the Assimetricos, good experience with P Zero Rossos on the 4S. Conti Sport COntact 2's are ok as well, but poor experience on wear.

Re: 997 Facelift - Official Specs

On my facelift C2S, I have specced pdk and the sport chrono plus with LC - expecting 305kph and 0-100 kph in less than 4.5 secs!

This will be a difference between declared and actual - Porsche are fairly conservative!

Re: 997 Facelift - Official Specs

mexx would you use your lc much? i would have thought it would put a massive load on the car...

Re: 997 Facelift - Official Specs

If I'm honest I don't expect to use it hardly at all - on the track occasionally I suspect. I drive my current car daily at about 20% of what it can do...... mostly.

I wouldn't worry too much about the load though - its engineering by Porsche!

It is fast, don't get me wrong. Just not as fast as I thought vs the 997S mk1.
That rear bias for weight has to be good for something...
