    Painted my battery cover.

    Nice lil touch I think...gives me a smile whenever I pop the hood.

    Once again thanks edz.

    The whole interior project will won't be done for proboly another month or so. I just ordered the jet black alacantra. As for the wheels they shipped today and will prboly get here by Friday.

    I hope the red lip stand out, I really want the lip to almost glow when in motion. I dont like the faded stripe look. I might have to get it re-done but we'll see.

    HOLY COW!! You just gave Porsche another way to score by selling options! "Painted Battery Cover" US$400.00. "Glove Compartment Door Interior Painted" US$350.00. LOL!

    Funny because my _red_ spare tire wheel gives me a little shot of joy when I pop the hood too.

    What kind of paint? Is that a possible DIY?

    MMD: I think the paint the bodyshop used was ferrari red-same red as the red F430. I was a little skeptical at first cause I have a porsche not a ferrari but it turned out to be a nice contrast with the black cause of the brightness. Im no color expert but I liek what I see!

    I like modding the small details of the car even if your the only person to notice them. As for DIY project dont ask me I dun have one DIY bone in my body. (I'm homer when it comes to DIY projects)

    Niiice. I'd call it Guards Red though. IMO, it's no longer Rossa Corsa when applied to Porsche parts.

    Why don't you finish it off by painting ALL of the black trim pieces under there.

    Nah..., painting _just_ the battery cover makes it important. Painting the entire trunk trim would "cheapen" the effect. You'd get that "Ford Focus Feeling." It's the same strategy for painted calipers. You paint only them red to gain psychological effect; it specializes things.

    OTOH, red battery cover has joyous effect only when you open the hood. You get that shot of adrenaline, like seeing a nice strawberry ice cream cone, infrequently. Since they're not hidden, and therefore not occasionally revealed, red calipers just look annoying after a while , IMO.

    It looks fine until you look at the edges of the paint cover and you can see the obvious "incomplete" effect. That's just my opinion though. I think it looks fine otherwise. Maybe just paint the screws so that it isn't black.

    Oh shiiiii..., would bother me too if the piece didn't seem "encapsulated" in paint.

    O well painting the cover costed me next to nothing. It was part of the deal that got all my interior parts painted.

    I like it.

    Maybe I am stealing your thread a bit, but I have a closely relate question:
    Is your battery cover fitting perfectly, or is it sticking out higher on one edge?
    (My car is an October 2004 launch Carrera S, with no accident history and the battery cover fits poorly, pissing me off every time I open it).

    My 997S had a bad-fitting set of trunk panels. I spend a few hours with an exacto knife trimming plastic off to make the panels fit better. Also use a screwdriver to loosen and shift them before cutting. A little effort and you can fix what the factory thought was "good 'nuff."
