    Re: Riviera and Mexico Blue

Harry, he was a 19 year old kid that just got bored with the 997TT and wanted something else. I have no idea what he ended up with. He talked about getting a Gallardo but I don't think that's what he got.

The Carrera GT is truly in Gulf Blue (a color I originally sought for my 997) but impossible to get from the factory. It's an issue with the lighter non-metallics and the various materials beneath. Gulf Blue is quite light.

Oh, Gulf blue is impossible to get??

Anyone know the Riviera Blue on this post is the real tone? My salesman showed me a color sample, but that's much darker.

Anyone have pics of Riviera Blue and Mexico Blue?

I can't see the different between them, anyone knows?

And color code for both colors?

    Thank You!

According to Porsche's color sample brochure dated 08/94 the color code for Riviera Blue is S8.

The color sample on my brochure is darker, too, but the color samples rarely match the real colors.

I've got one more for you, Laguna Seca Blue. It's a custom color and supposedly the only 997TT in the world in this color.

Laguna Seca blue was an official BMW M colour; we could have ordered it on our M Coupe; also on some E46 M3's. Did not sell well despite availability of color-matched leathers...

    Re: Riviera and Mexico Blue

The "Laguna Seca Blue" is the same vehicle as the Oslo Blue,--notice the outside mirrors. Same treatment. Would like to see that car next to mine. As I understand it my 3AS blue turquoise is still one of a kind for the 997,--for now!

Yep Dan. You're right. Atomic 80 figured it out this morning. I have other pics of the car that show that there is a different "Turbo" badge from one set of photos to another. So I thought there might be two cars. But the guy must have just changed the badge. The car is actually Oslo Blue. It's up for sale right now here in LA and advertised as "Lagua Seca Blue". I emailed the dealer where the car is on consignment and, suprise, the sales guy didn't know a thing about the car, didn't know the real color and had never actually seen the car.

If you Google "Riviera Blue Porsche" you will find a lot more examples of Riviera Blue. I'm confident that they will all look like the pic above, which is very close to Mexico Blue.

    Re: Riviera and Mexico Blue

Thanks for the additional 'OSLO' pictures.

Here's Mexico Blue vs. Maritime Blue (an old 964RS colour):

    Re: Riviera and Mexico Blue

Maritime is a really nice shade:

While I'm digging in the pictures folder, here's Maritime vs Riviera vs Mint:

    And Mexico

    Re: Riviera and Mexico Blue

^ Don't think that's Mexico. Too dark. Looks more like Minerva.

With differing photography and lighting it can be hard to call that color Mexico. it could be Blue Turquoise,--like mine. After seeing that 997 TT in Gulf Blue I'm really sort of glad that Zuffenhausen was unable to paint my 997S in Gulf Blue back in the summer of 06. It just doesn't work for me on this modern shape.

Neither does it for me. However, with corresponding orange parts like the original Gulf racing cars, it looks kinda cool to me.

I think it is - not that it really matters..

    More so-called Mexico Blue RT12
