    Re: 2008 Viper VS. Z06

    Time for some new tires

    Re: 2008 Viper VS. Z06

What's the point? Disneyland is more thought provoking, less smokey and more fun for kids.

    Re: 2008 Viper VS. Z06

Granted they are both fast and I would love to track them. But, I still rather have my little old porsche. In my opinion, porsches seemed to be more refined.

    Re: 2008 Viper VS. Z06

Wow, not my kind of car in looks and charactre department, but these guys must have had a lot of fun that day!

    Re: 2008 Viper VS. Z06

This Vette is a great car, especially compared to the price of a Porsche. Really valueable for the money!

    Re: 2008 Viper VS. Z06

The ZR-1 should be even better. Supposedly uses European leather and higher quality materials.

It's the same interior that is already optional on all the 2008 Corvettes ($4k option).

    Re: 2008 Viper VS. Z06

Any pictures and/or impressions of that interior, Grant?

    EDIT: Nevermind, found some pictures:

"European leather" uh!? Do you think cow skin in Europe is better than elsewhere? or that leather processing is also better than elsewhere? What a load of c$ap.

It continues to amaze me that (mostly) adult men lust for these doodads in their sports cars... it appears that these toys are for show and not much else.

Keep your pants on. What I meant to say was European-STYLE leather, meaning none of that plasticky appearance, but the same look and feel that you get in an Audi or a Benz. Geez...

Have to agree, I have a european background but I must say that European men are more
poncy and fashion couscious that I will ever be.

No surprise from men that carry purses.

(A pickpocket runs by, taking Jerry's carryall, while everyone yells in surprise)

Jerry: Hey! Officer! Someone took my European carryall!

    Cop: Your what?

    Jerry: The...black, leather...thing with a strap.

    Cop: You mean a purse?

Jerry: Yes, a purse. I carry a purse!

    Re: 2008 Viper VS. Z06

Please, don't superimpose Italian men on all of us. I don't care much for fashion, but I like a high quality interior in a car, especially when we're talking about a vehicle costing 80.000 or more euros.

It still looks very cheap and bland to to me.

    Re: 2008 Viper VS. Z06

Yeah, it's the plastic pieces that look out of place. However, it is a big step forward IMO.

    Re: 2008 Viper VS. Z06

Both Corvette and Cadillac are buying leather interiors now from the same company that supplies them to Porsche, Mercedes and BMW - Drexel Meyers = see this link:
    http://wardsauto.com/ar/cts_interior_design/

Whatever the specs for it are, its a huge improvement over what they previously offered.

Automotive Leather comes in many grades and many finishes.
Germany is the acknowledged world quality leader for leather automotive materials. Obviously some will be more durable, less prone to rip, more luxurious feeling and better to maintain than others.

BMW recently licensed the first automotive leather finish that repels heat. So if you live in a hot place your girl can wears short shorts in the car again!

    Thank Germany!

For the new two tone interior GM will use the same company/supplier as what Mercedes uses in their Maybach products.

I've seen it Ron, as it is the same as the 4LT trim package also available on my car, and I did not order it, as I do not think it matters. The new leatherette vinyl in both the Vette (and the 911 BTW) is very good, functional and easy to maintain. I see these cars as fun driving machines, not luxury gadgets. I've seen 911 leather after a few years with an unattractive run-down look, whereas the synthetic material keeps better. But... as they say, to each his own.

For 100k it better use quality materials, no matter how fun it is supposed to be. If I buy a GT for that much money, I want quality on both fronts. Then again, I would agree with you on the GT3RS or a similar lightweight car.

I vote for as many girlie doodads as possible in my car. Gets you more girlie ass than giving her whiplash .

    Re: 2008 Viper VS. Z06

Jim, Ron, thanks for the info. If the ZR-1 is reasonably priced here, it will be a very interesting car.

    Re: 2008 Viper VS. Z06

corvette has decided to put its engine in one program, and its interior in another... one program is in 6th gear, while the other is in 1st gear... damn those interiors!!! corvette can push their "blue devil" to 1,000 bhp, and never match the other supercars with a pathetic interior like that!

    Re: 2008 Viper VS. Z06

The Corvette interior is more Levis than Armani.

Even if they covered the interior in rare space alien hides it wouldnt disquise its lack of artful design. The next one wont suffer from that hopefully.

What's funny? I'm no expert but this "professional" looking interior shot seems to use lighting in the least flattering way to show an already overly plasticy interior.

    Re: 2008 Viper VS. Z06

As soon as I plan my right foot I forget alll about my Z06s interior.
