    Oh Baby

I am getting the delivery next week. Should be able to send much better pictures later.

Questions: The dealer offers VentureShield, Door Ding Protection, Tire/Wheel Road Hazard Protection, Simoniz System 5 protection and other plans. I know I will get the VentureShield, but what are your opinions on the other plans (about $600 to $800 each)?

BTW, the dealer will also install the two pieces of CF door finishers (Thanks to Jason's source)

I have been reading this forum for more than a year and your guys have been great help!!! Starting next week, maybe I can also add a comment or two.

    Re: Oh Baby

    more pic

    Re: Oh Baby

Read the fine print. The Tire/Wheel pkg on some is very good with wide coverage and little out of pocket, often worth it. The others...well, fluffy. I'm not a film guy, so that's your call. Simoniz? Are you kidding. Stay away, far away from dealer prep/wax stuff.

    Re: Oh Baby

Oh man, Eric is so right.. Other than an invisable bra, and Tire pkg with spelled out no money protection, all that other stuff are just profit centers for the dealer and worthless..simoniz, dent protection, window etching all a big nono.

    Re: Oh Baby

    Love the painted seat backs.

I personally dont really like Venturasheild, etc. Wax build up on the edges of the film and the paint really bugs me and is a pain IMO.

    Re: Oh Baby

I would reco the clear bra but do the full hood and fenders. Tire insurance is mandatory if you live in a bad road area in which the north east has many of. Used mine three times already.

    Re: Oh Baby

Love the white with the black top.....great look!

    Re: Oh Baby

I am hearing alot of responses that the Venture Shield, 3M, etc. ALL yellow on white. I also have a white one coming in a few months and have been researching this. I am not putting it on mine after all the comments I have seen from WHITE 997tt owners. Your car is BEAUTIFUL - VERY HOT! Congratulations

    Re: Oh Baby

Beautiful car! Tan (natural leather brown?) interior: you're a man of great taste. I REALLY like the white seat backs too. Congrats!

BTW, if (*if*) the interior's yellowish monotone seems too much for you, getting mats in something like a Starbuck cappuccino color would help IMO. That's what I did in my car, and for so little $, it has turned out to be one of my most favorite "options."

....Never mind, looks like you might have carpet in cocoa already?

    Re: Oh Baby

Thanks, guys! The car has COCOA top, natural brown, deviating carpet (black) and a few CF options. I thought ONLY the 3M films would yellow. The dealer told me if I put on different wheels, as long as the specs are the same standards as the factory ones, the Tire/Wheel plan should cover them too. I couldn't get hold of the provider today. I am still shopping for wheels and may change them later

    Re: Oh Baby

Agree with guys above: check fine print of wheel/tire protection. Mine had _incredibly_ ridiculous requirement that the [tire?] [wheel?] had "to hold air" _and_ go back to the original dealer in order to be repaired _OR_ replaced. (sorry, forgot details).

Clear bra? What kinds of driving do you do? Alot of bizzy interstate driving on my Bimmer messes up the bumber and grille. My TT is mostly on secondary highways with fewer cars and more space between them and so clear bras are unnecessary. You could get away with a regular strap-on bra for non-routine long interstate trips.

Wheels? My dealer (owner of dealership not sales guy) said changing wheels would nullify suspension-related warrenty claims. Better double check what yours said.

All this serious stuff aside: Congrats on the car!!!

    Re: Oh Baby

I've got a white GT-2 on order, tentatively with film protection from the dealer. My current car is a silver 996 X-50 without film, prior one a red C-4S with film. Both on Michelin Pilot Sport Cups, and both tracked 5 or so times a year. With comparable mileage, the silver non-film car picked up a lot more paint dings, and the black smears (from hitting flying rubber debris at speed) were tougher to get off....especially where concentrated in the wheel wells behind the tires.
So...I think I'll stay with the film, and replace it when/if it yellows. I've yet to check into the warranty, but will get mine Porsche dealer installed in hopes of better back up if yellowing is a problem. On white car, it will be painfully obvious if this happens...never noticed it on the red one

    Re: Oh Baby

A guy I know has the venture shield on a white c2, yellowed after one year. I think they all do on a white/light car, I've seen it with both 3m and vs now.
    Nice car BTW.

Hey Vig, Natural Brown is niiiiice. Reminds me of the buckskin interior in an XKE I once knew (not mine).

    Re: Oh Baby

    Very nice car! Enjoy!

    Re: Oh Baby

Your car is stunning - I love the color combinations - just beautiful! I am partial to white, but your entire package looks just great. Regarding the film - I have done quite alot of research and read alot about this on all the forums. On the white, it appears they all yellow. It is very expensive to keep replacing this and it yellows fairly quickly it seems (in several thousand miles). I have a white 997TT coming too and I may just leave it off like I did on my 04 C4S in white, and my previous Boxster S which was white. I just used some touch up on the few tiny rock chips and you cannot even tell. Keep us posted what you decide and what kind of luck you have with the film if you get it.

    Re: Oh Baby

How much did you get on your trade-in?

    Beautiful Cab

    Re: Oh Baby

Very nice! I hope that crappy looking license plate is going to be replaced soon though.

    Re: Oh Baby

    Hi,

nice car. Looks great in white. Steering wheel maybe a little busy for me tho with 4 different colours, but i like the light coloured leather.

    Enjoy...

    Rgds.

I bought that "crappy license plate" in Aruba: it's a lucky number for me
