997 Carrera/Targa will get facelift for MY 2009 (from mid 08), GT3/GT3 RS will get facelift either probably, but maybe production will suspend for some time so factory (and marketing dept )can focus on Carrera model line.

PDK and PASM are very likely for next GT3 and GT3 RS.

To answer your question: Yes, AFAIK next GT3 RS will get PDK shift, and will be available before 2010.

Nothing is officially confirmed by PAG yet though.

    Re: MK 2 GT3 RS due 2010

my bet is MY09 for both GT3/RS, but still not so sure about PDK release. can some of you give me some details, why everyone so sure there will be PDK for the facelift, by the way I really want that too.

    Re: MK 2 GT3 RS due 2010

With all these plans what are they intending to do with the next generation 911? Just some slight styling changes?

Direct Fuel Injection, DSG, styling changes, LED lights...

Engine of the future. (TechArt knows stuff about it.)

Oh, I was confused. You are talking about the 998, right? I have seen very little about this, except that my dealer said the 998 is coming out in 2010. He didn't say whether this means Model Year 2010 or 2011, but I suspect it's 2011.

    Re: MK 2 GT3 RS due 2010

2010 is too early for the "998" by any account.

    Re: MK 2 GT3 RS due 2010

Why everybody waiting for the MK2 RS

i just have my one now ...waiting for what?
those which allways ask and wait for the new model, they never gonna buy a GT3RS.
soon as the MK2 is present they ask for the 998 GT3RS with 500HP and 8 zyl.

    Well said.

Nevertheless model changes/upgrades/facelift of Porsche are just a little bit too much for my taste.

2011 or whenever? You have to wonder what's next with all the stuff they've got coming up in the next year or two? Maybe an end to RMS?

Seriously, new engine and some body mods in addition to the new goodies. I'm sure this isn't the first time people have wondered what they're going to do next to the next 911?

Yet for the price of one Ferrari, you could get the MkI and MkII Porsches.

Porsche is constantly improving its products and it does so at a quick pace, which speaks to the significance of innovation in the company, and is just plain good for the consumer and good for business.

I believe all above but DSG.

    Re: Direct Injection / PASM

Will direct injection improve emissions and fuel economy? If so, anybody know how much?

Do you think the facelift cars will have improved PASM? The systems appears to be better on the GT3, for example, than it was on the first Carrera S cars.

Sure, there's always the "next" model around the corner... but in the current situation I'd rather wait for the "next" RS either. Not bc of more HP, but the PDK box is probably a killer. And that it might get (fully disengageable) ESP/PASM, isn't too bad either.

mmm interesting comments . in australia you can't buy a new RS as there is no more allocated , and the guys who have one don't want to part with theirs . i am not waiting for the next RS , just have 2 friends who have left deposits . they have been told the engine will be a 3.8

I also gave up the RS before, just because at that time I needed to move to the states, but I do not regret about that, because the RS isn't faster than the 996 version. So what can I do now is to wait for the new GT3, but my bet is don't expect too much from Porsche, I think there are only DFI, LED, update software and restyle for the car to look more up to date and faster. Although I also want the 3.8 and PDK, but I don't think they gonna release them for this time. Let's hope for it.
