Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster Concept Roof GDG

Press Release for Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster owners
    By Genaddi Design Group

Effective today Genaddi Design Group, a company in Green Bay Wisconsin in the United States, builders of the Ford GTX1 Roadster have released the following renderings of a removable carbon fiber hard top that they will be producing for the Murcielago Roadster owners. The top is designed to fit easily in the front bonnet of the car and go on and off the car in about one minute making the ownership experience of the Murcielago Roadster much more rewarding. Owning a top that can be stored in the car for "easy on and off" capabilities allows much more freedom to enjoy your Lamborghini!

Let's say you live in Florida, well as you know it can be beautiful one minute and raining the next making it impossible to take the Murcielago anywhere without having a place to duck in when the rain hits. This 6-piece hard top includes the rear glass window, and you have the option of enjoying the car a few different ways. First of course as a Roadster, then as a hard top, a T-top, and lastly as a Targa top.

All pieces come finished in either dull or gloss finish of carbon fiber but not painted. Color matching without the car is far too hard so when you get it and want it to match your car take it to your local dealer and they will accommodate you. The top is very light weight and easy to handle for most anyone, it is not difficult to figure out, and uses a proprietary system for keeping it water tight.

The top will be available directly from Genaddi Design Group or through participating Lamborghini dealers. It is warranted to be free from defect with a cost of $26,000. If you would like to get on the list for one please contact Mark Gerisch at Genaddi Design Group to place the order. Production will start in May of 2008 and be sold on a first come basis.

Re: Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster Concept Roof G

Sorry, but $26k?? For that amount you can get a whole car... even a new convertible.

Re: Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster Concept Roof G

I think it's a great idea to a problem many murci roadster owners are having. When you spend 350k on a car, 26k for a roof doesn't seem so bad.

Re: Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster Concept Roof G

look great, compared to that hideous one thats out now (forget who makes it?)

Re: Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster Concept Roof G

For me personally this truly is a great idea. It actually makes my car usable all year round now. 26K USD or 18K euro is indeed quite a bit of money BUT spending over 18K euro on some carbon inlays and a carbon engine frame is way more over the top imho. Same goes for the 7.5K euro transparent engine bonnet, the 10K euro E-gear system, the 15K euro ceramics and so on.
I think those 18K euro's are actually well spend since it will bring me at least 4-5 months of extra driving fun.

Re: Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster Concept Roof G

Much better than the solution that came with the cars, worth the price.

Re: Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster Concept Roof G

This is nice and all but are there any real life pics of the carbon parts.
You cant see nothing about the mechanism how it attaches to the car or each part together.
By the looks of it now it wont pass 60mph without blowing off.

Re: Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster Concept Roof G

There is no 100mph speed limit with this top. They already tested it on the GTX1 at 180mph.
No real life pics yet but there will be in a few months.

Why wouldn't it? The Carrera GT also has a removable CF top and it tops out at 335 km/h.

Re: Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster Concept Roof G

No, I just meant to say that those renderings of the top look "weak"
I know that in real life it will be different looking, not so thin, sort to say.

    180MPH sounds more than enough...

Re: Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster Concept Roof GDG

With the pathetic performance on delivering GTX1 tops I can't see how anybody would feel comfortable spending any money here. Based on posts over on the FordGTForum, some guys didn't receive their chopped up cars back for a year and 10 months later are still waiting for their tops. There is no way a car with this top would go down the road rattle free and pleasant to drive. I see this as a way to scam money to finish off the shopped Ford GT's at the Genaddi shop.

Re: Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster Concept Roof G

It is about time something decent is introduced. IMO, Automobili Lamborghini should never have sold the car without a hardtop solution for it.

Re: Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster Concept Roof GDG

Do not spend money with these clowns! Read about the Ford GT owners on FordGTForum.com he has stiffed out of their removable roof not to mention the cars he's already cut up that are sitting in his shop and he has decided to throw in the towel. This release is nothing more than an attempt to get money in to allow him to finish the cars he's already ruined.

This guy is as pathetic as Nick Sitko!

Somehow, I don't think that people with the kind of money to buy a Murcielago Roadster would like the kind of car one can buy for US$26k

I guess the real test of whether this third party product actually does what the manufacturer's own roof panel should have done in the first place is whether it really is safe at speed, watertight, easy to remove/fit back on etc in practice... so only time will tell.

I don't understand how further chopping etc us needed. Isn't the roadster already chopped from the factory? They're just supplying a carbon fibre roof panel which has various permutations for how it can be used.
