How Far Out Are Turbo Order/Build Dates?

I bought my 2007 TT "off the lot" because I liked the speced car (was perfectly optioned: wow!), and I did not want to become an agonized waiter again.

Sales guy told me I made a good move because 2008 allocations were smaller and ordering was gonna take longer.

I'm wondering if he was BS'ing. Is the Turbo supply tighter and are the production dates further out?

No big deal..., just curious. Thanks... .

I have noticed that dealers are taking orders for spring next year. I think because they are building cabriolet versions there are less coupes than in 2007.

I have a Nov 07 build, and then next coupe allocation my dealer has is in April 08.

I ordered mine in July and still waiting..I guess i will get the car by 7-10th of November.

I was at my dealer yesterday and he told me something similar, namely that I was really smart to get mine when I did (in June, a car I spec'd and had built). He said that even though they are selling a lot of cars and would normally see their allocation go up, for 2008 Turbos they are getting only 7 coupes and 12 cabs. For the whole year. There was one coupe being prepped for delivery (a slate/black with PCCB's and lots of wood in the interior, stickered over $150k).

Most UK dealers are getting about 1 TT coupe allocation a month. 1/3 less coupes for MY08 than MY07 due to the Cabs.

Hence the year waiting list here.

I live in New England and I ordered my TT Coupe last week. The dealer only had 2 slots left for model year 2008. The build date is scheduled for March and a delivery towards the end of April 2008.

I took delivery of a coupe in June after approx. 1 year wait. At least I was able to spec to my taste. A colleague recently ordered a cab and will also wait approx. 9-12 months.

MSRP on ordered 08 cars, maybe small discount on remaining my07. I ordered mine to the last detail, waited over a yr, microscopic discount. Well worth it, at that price point, get exactly what you want, f the crappy discount on the lite grey interior/supple seat car that's been on the lot 6 months that some freakin speculator ordered with his maxed out cc.

No discount given on the 2008 TT that I ordered, it was the full MSRP.

2008 Turbo coupes ordered to specs: I got 1500 off in Southern Calif. (and I think I am a tough negotiator

). Someone told me he got 3000 off. AFAIK, production for Turbo coupes was reduced, maybe by as much as half, because of the Cab introduction. When I called around July or so, there were VERY few slots available for the first 6 months of the model year.

2007 Turbo coupes: some leftover 2007 floor samples supposedly/allegedly were "available" for 5k off around July/August of this year. No confirmation.

Bottom line: don't expect much discount; it's just supply/demand. I was waiting for the 5% discount as time went on; it never came. In the end, the 1500 off was laughable in relation to the overall cost of the car, more a moral victory

than anything else.

2008 coupe spec'd to my perversions from a WA state dealer. MSRP, but I'm getting a set of Champion RF67 or GT3RS wheels out of it gratis .
..and I get the pleasure of driving it home along the entire Pacific Coast: Northern Washington to sunny Southern California.

Dick, I had the chance to do that recently. I'm envious that you're getting to do it. Probably a better idea to do that especially since you'll be taking delivery when the weather is foul. I'm envious that you're getting those wheels for free! You must really have done something to have managed that. Have you decided which ones you're going with yet? We should try to meet up when you're heading my way.

I ordered my 2008 Turbo Cab October build back in July, when my SF Bay area dealer got his allocations. Phoenix Leader ship is due to arrive San Diego on 11/11, so I should get my car the week after - just in time for Thanksgiving

I got $3500 off MSRP ($140.6k pre discount for a focused set of options). This was to beat another local dealer's offer of $3000 off MSRP. It was reasonably (and surprisingly) competitive here back in July, not sure about now however.

I did ask in North Scottsdale, AZ, back in July, and they were planning to sell some for $5-10k over MSRP however.

Just ordered a TT cab yesterday for December build/ late January-early Feb delivery. Have Pro Forma invoice and order number. Was a dealer allocation that was not spoken for. Changed it to my specs on the last possible day it could be done. Happened to cold call dealer in the am yesterday. Was all set to order from Kansas (I am in SoCal) for a Feb build and March/April delivery. Local dealers are quoting spring/early summer delivery.

No, it's a backpack. Strapping it down on top of the rear hard pack was the only way to carry everything w/ wanted to bring along. Problem being we were 2 people on a bike for 10 days and needed clothes for both warm (LA) & cold (San Fran & North at night) weather, plus rain gear, leathers etc. The bike was really loaded up. I kept telling my wife it was all her hairdryers fault. One of the best trips we've done it was a lot of fun.

I insist on getting at least 1000$ off any car. Purely due to my stubborness I suppose, I refuse to pay MSRP on a car.

Hey Can, The guy who told you he got (rather...will be getting) $3K off, yeah, that same guy told me the same thing

He also ordered & negotiated his 08TT back in July and I think Dealers were more flexible then. Some So Cal dealers still have a lot of used 07's on the lot and I would suspect they want to get rid of those cars before they continue negotiating on ordered 08's. I did hear from multiple guys at 6speed who got 4-6% off 2007's from dealerships outside the big markets.

Also, the MSRP definitely comes into play. If you order a mostly stock car with an MSRP of under $132,000, I would not expect any discounts. But if you spec a coupe to north of $145K, a discount should be demanded.
