I was at my dealer the other day configuring my July build GT2 and I am paying full sticker $209,565.00. I never thought I would spend that kind of money on a single car, but what the hell you only live once. I have already had offers for my spot, so time will tell what the market will bring for these cars.

I can't believe Porsche NA would let their dealers get away with that crap. I know BMW doesn't. When the new M5 came out, BMW Canada would call the customer directly confirming the price they paid, and the customer had to agree not to export the vehicle for one year, and give the dealer first rights to buy the car back in that 12 month time frame. The penalty to the dealer for adding a markup or selling to a broker was that the next time a new vehicle came out, they would be at the bottom of the list for allocation.

Let me guess...the first one is going to the owner? Are they going to get another allocation for you?

Above MSRP prices reflect both dealers w/o robust base of repeat buyers....and buyers who have failed to establish a relationship w/a well-run dealer....Darwinian selection on several levels....
Real question is one's likely deprec cost after one yr of use....some cars retain much of premia for first yr or so post-launch; others don't....
Concept of ascribing value to elderly, used cars like Enzo/CGT (or a GT2 one yr post-launch) is always amusing....similar to game of determining what some frugal Luddite is willing to pay for a 3-4yo, used smartphone/Blkberry/laptop that was arguably leading-edge in its day....or what some sucker (sorry, collector ) is willing to pay for used underwear (or used car) w/the "desired" brand/vintage/prior owner...
Present value of consumption is as relevant as present value of money....most would rather enjoy a new-tech toy today than some time in future.....after all, one's own ability to enjoy consumption may be depreciated in future due to health, etc....

I suspect these will be SHORT term premiums....Porsche is a company seeking profits, it will build more if need be no?

I am completely pissed off about this GT2 CRAP. They are advertising for Christ's sake. I tried to call Porsche cars North America today to Complain and there is no one to even take my calls. I have spent $500,000 in cars in the last 5 years and I want to give them $200,000 more and they won't even take my money(or my calls) and they are advertising in Esquire magazine like I can buy this car. If someone knows someone at PCNA, I would like them to call me.
