The Wing Is Good (at least OK).

Remember all my consternation (whining and complaining) about the wing sticking out the back of the car? You guys were right: it doesn't bother me very much anymore.

The turning point was a group of guys admiring the car at the Post Office when I came out. We chatted for a minute or so.

I said I loved the car but the wing bothered me a bit; I felt "too old for a wing" (like it was a 20-something thing). One of the guys said, "What wing? Oh, THAT wing," He continued, "It _blends in_, you don't even see it because of the color." Well, the whole issue just appeared in a flash and his response was instant so I guess it's got significant validity. The car is Slate, I guess darker colors work for those of us with "special needs."

Re: The Wing Is Good (at least OK).

You worry too much, Mr. MMD.

Re: The Wing Is Good (at least OK).

Agree...wings are an inelegant aerodynamic solution.....stability at speeds (esp vs bumpy road surfaces, cross-winds, etc) is critical for perf/safety/precision....

Would argue 996TTS was rather weak in its cross-wind stability, even at <100MPH....at least in my driving expce on the often windy SF Peninsula which has fast, hilly, sometimes bumpy fwys...not sure if AB's much higher speeds are offset by much smoother pavement and lower wind/cross-wind coefficients vs SF Peninsula....

997TT is greatly improved in its aerodynamic (and chassis) stability in similar driving conditions ...though still less stable in similar conditions vs CL63/599....which lack wings....

Aesthetically, the 997TT's wing at least looks somewhat modern...the 997S' "stub" wing/tray w/that cheap, accordion-like under-mechanics simply looks awful, like a 30-40yo contraption....

Amusing to see the sunny wkend poseurs who drive around city in their P's w/wing set in perma-up position....much correlation w/driver's seat in perma-recline position; dark-tinted windows rolled down (of course); and fast-food cup in XXL cupholders, amidst the fast-food wrappers....

Re: The Wing Is Good (at least OK).

WBH, tell us you really feel.

Nah..., but you're probably right to an extent. I'm just trying to discuss Turbo car issues and stuff with you guys. This time I wanted to let y'all know that your comments on my earlier wing "worries" made sense to me in the long run.

Re: The Wing Is Good (at least OK).

Sorry, I was just being sarcastic. No harm intended. But I do get your state of wonderment. It's good that you're always sharing your thoughts with the rest of us folks.

Hey Buddy..., no problem. I didn't take it serious that way. Lemme buy the next round
