Does anyone else hate the steering wheel?
The best steering wheel in a production car that I've ever held was in a Lancer Evolution. It's basic, has a small diameter, and just feels like it has all the spokes in the perfect places. Not only this, but they also seemed to pack the airbag into the smallest center section possible. This is another plus in my opinion.
From the look of the 997 wheel, it fails on all accounts. The center section is huge, the overall diameter too large, and I bet that the center of rotation is not in the center of the wheel. (take your wheel and turn it 180 degrees while paying attention to your view of the instruments, you can see the tach well one way, but not the other way.) I don't care about viewing the gauges, I want my wheel in the same place when I turn it. The Evo wheel spins about it's center.
Worst of all the steering wheel has buttons on it. Are you kidding me? They seem to be making up for all those years without cupholders.
Is this really the steering wheel of a sports car?
