    Black Instrument Dials

Is it possible to spec black instrument dials on the turbo (as an exclusive option)? (You can spec them as a no-cost option on the Carrera) I like the look of the black dials in the GT2 and GT3 and think that they make the sports chrono dial look less obvious.

    Re: Black Instrument Dials

I just looked at the 08 spec guide and you are correct that the black dials are not available on the turbo. Strange.
I agree that I like the look of the black dials better.
I wonder why Porsche would have them available on all of the other Carrera variants.

    Re: Black Instrument Dials

I tried to order black instrument dials for my October build turbo coupe. I was told they are not available.

    Re: Black Instrument Dials

Yeah..., my guess is there's not enough orders for black dials so they don't offer them on TT. Reason: because unlike Carrera and Carrera S, which are interchangeable, the TT tachometer has different specs.

BTW? Why no colored wheel caps for TT? My guess is the TT wheels are polished and clear-coated. Carrera and Carrera S are _painted_ and clearcoated. Maybe it's hard to "color" _polished_ alloy and keep it in the background and not enough quantities to make it profitable, blah, blah, blah... .

DARN IT! I kinda miss those colored wheel caps! Just a little speck of color, like a gemstone: was niiiiice.

    Re: Black Instrument Dials

You can't get black but you can get white, red or yellow, so its not that they can't do black, they just choose not to.

    Re: Black Instrument Dials

I thought it was an option early on, maybe I'm thinking of the 997 S. I would have gotten black dials if it was an option.

    Re: Black Instrument Dials

    I like mine white.

    Mine are black and white:

    Re: Black Instrument Dials

Stock is not white, its silver.

    Re: Black Instrument Dials

I had previously ordered the no-cost option "O22 black dials" on my C2S, and was also dismayed to learn that black dials are not available on the TT. I went to PCNA on this, but they denied the request for black dials for my Nov build 08 TT coupe.

    Re: Black Instrument Dials

So much for being able to "customise" the 911 Turbo - that is such a shame - perhaps as an alternative to black dials with the sports chrono, they should allow us to have sports chrono without the silly dash-mounted dial.

    LOL.

If you reeeeeeally wanted the dials to match you could _probably_ find an outfit on the net which will copy change and fabricate a dial for you in the color you choose. Not a big deal (moneywise) anymore with CAD digital tech.

Who knows? Maybe they will remove and replace too... .

BTW, I know for a "fact" (service guy confidently, not BS'edly, told me) SC wart pops straight up and off (pry it up on both sides with tape-protected tools). You can take it out of bezel, wrap in bubble wrap, stuff in dash and get a leather cover/flap made to cover hole...

    Re: Sport Chrono Remove/Change Options

Is the Sport Chrono option better suited for a Tip vs. a Manual tranny? In my 996TT M6, I don't spend much time in the lower RPM range. However, one doesn't have much choice in a Tip right? Additionally, I'm not into tracking or changing the suspension...

While I'm ready to upgrade into a 997TT (even though I hate the idea of selling my baby), I can't decide on what major options to select. Most importantly, Tip vs. Man. and the PCCB brakes. This forum is helping me out alot. Thanks.

SC is the most important option in the Turbo. It comes before everything else.

Yes, it's "unprecedented" ( ) in automotive marketing history: Porsche says, "We'll sell you this amazingly-ballsy car, but be sure to spend RIDICULOUSLY LITTLE MONEY and order the _optional_ SC or else you'll get a "de-tuned" TT.
