    997 Cab.

    997 Cab.

    Re: 997 Cab.

Looks like there won't be an 997 S cab.

    Re: 997 Cab.

I've gotta think the article is erroneous. P is in for a marketing disaster in convertible-intensive mkts like California/The Hamptons if it doesn't have a 997SCab.

    Re: 997 Cab.

this is true. Imagine an SL55 smoking a 997 C2 cab., doesn't look very good for Porsche.

    Re: 997 Cab.

There have been "spy" photos of 997 S cabs with the twin tailpipes. I'm hoping that if they are testing them they will sell them. I am 4th on the waiting list at my local dealer for a 997 cab S, but if they don't have it in the S version I will probably cancel and wait.

seeing as how the SL55 is 120k and the 997C2 cab will be about 80, your statement makes no sense at all.

What makes you think the 997 Cab would be 80????

My '99 C2 Cab stickered above 92! Yeah yeah I know, base was near 80, but add a few decent options (18's, Litronics, pwr seats, etc) and whamo. I doubt we'll see a 997 Cab in the low 80's other than stripped and ripped.

    Re: 997 Cab.

sticker price has nothing to do w/ it Moogle. Performance wise these cars are in the same league(at least the 997 S coupe vs. the SL55). The fact that you even responded to my statement at all proves that it makes sense to someone. Who was talking about price here Moogle?

    I don't get it.

    The article didn't say that!

    Re: 997 Cab.

Thats the thing, it's just an article from the press, not a sure fact. Some sources are reliable, but you never know?

Secondly Im failing to understand why everyone is still talking about price comparison with the SL55 vs. 997 C2S, price was never mentioned in my original statement. Moogle is just making something out of nothing.

    Now I'm even more confused.
Let's move on to another thread.

    Re: 997 Cab.

Please refer to the photo of a 997 S cab that was previously posted here. I would think that this might indicate that Porsche is planning on an S cab.

Why? The SL55 is a competitor for a 997 Turbo Cab, not the 997 C2 Cab. Look at the price tag.
The Mercedes competitor for the 997 C2 Cab is the SL500, not the SL55.

Because there will be a 997 Turbo Cab sooner or later?
Porsche never placed the 997 C2 Cab as a SL55 competitor, even if it is much faster on the track than the SL55.

When Porsche develops a car, they have a certain "target" competitor in mind and of course certain "target" customers.
For the 997 C2 Cab, the "target" competitors are SL500, BMW 645i Cab, Maserati Spider and the Jaguar XK8.

You can't compare apples with oranges.

    Re: 997 Cab.

Notice im talking about the *C2S, not the C2. My mistake.

Same applies to the C2S, no difference, same target competitors and customers.

It seems some people, incl. our "beloved" Nick and you, seem to forget that there are other 911 models in the production pipeline, like the 997 GT3 and 997 Turbo.
The 997 Carrera is more Porsche's "SL350" if you want so...an entry level 911.

    Re: 997 Cab.

I didn't foget about anything RC, im thinking in terms of what will be on the market by the time the Cab. models are launched, which is early next year i believe, first quarter.

So what is the purpose of the C2S RC if both cars are in competition with the same exact models?

    Re: 997 Cab.

A little extra power and overall a little advantage regarding the price tag.

VERY good looking (Elegant yet Sporty)
    (Mooi werk!)

    Re: 997 Cab.

Nice Picture, but its simpler, using the 996 softtop and place it on the 997 - like this its not correct.

For sure there will be a 997 S Conv, there is nothing speaking against!

    right.

    but was this necessary?

"i drive a 911" used to be enough information. in the future the people will ask in reply "the s model?" -- like it's already the situation with the boxster models.

IMO the X51 option was a nicer, more subtle way if you needed a little more power in your 911.

with this S model with it's snobbish quad pipes the "basic" 911 is downgraded. i have the fear that "ordinary" carreras will get an uncool image. like the standard boxster. or the SL 350.

but this plan will work out for PAG because people pay the extra money. mostly not for the extra HP but for the image.

another milestone in selling out the 911 heritage IMO.

You wish it were that sleek ! Look at the silver spy pic - it has a humpier turtle butt than the 996 and the same arched roof as before.
