    2005 TTS Transmission

    Hi, I am new here and just got a 996 Turbo S w/ 5800 miles. The car is fantastic. I have driven a regular 996 turbo before, and compared with that, the clutch feels grabby. I have the sport shifter as well. Has anyone experienced this at all?

    I find that the first 20-25% of releasing the clutch does nothing at all. I heard this is an adjustment in the pedal and should improve it, again, has anyone done this?

    Congrats...there is no "adjustment" to the hydraulic clutch. You can, however, change the fluid and bleed the lines...this will sometimes help. There is also a clutch assist spring that can be removed, but this will not change where engagement occurs.

    Thanks. I think I just need to get used to it. Funny enough, my wife is driving the TTS like a pro

    I just can't get over what a wonderful machine it is. I was thinking about a 997, but could not wait the 10-12 monhts, glad i didn't.

    Sounds great and nice pic

    BUT ( ) as far as my experience (5000 km) is concernde the 997TT is more awesome as compared to the 996TT ... this is a generation change!

    But as one can obiously see, your black beauty is already (almost) awesome!

    Jag, it's a beauty, but then I'm especially biased as I also have a Black 05 S!! Where in Canada are you? Which wheels are on your car? Is it dropped?

    Thanks, the wheels are OEM Championship wheels - 19". I don't believe the car is dropped, although i have managed to scrape the front spoiler a few times. The wheels do fill out the wells nicely.

    I am just beginning to get comfortable with this fine machine. I don't think there are too many "S" models in Canada, I'm in London, ON..Jag.

    Yeah, I think it's dropped, but I guess it might be the 19" wheels. It certainly looks lower than mine (based on the pics). You said "Championship". Do you mean Champion Motors (from Florida)? They are quite likely the largest Porsche dealer in the world (in fact I think they might just advertise that), and they do market their own brand of wheels. I was originally looking at a car from them (a 2003) with Champion RS97's. I really wanted the RG5 or 5B wheels(which is what I think you've got). Gorgeous wheels. They're not actually OEM though (unless you meant Champion Motors OEM). Either way, they're certainly not a downgrade!

    I'm in Edmonton, so really, the extra sidewall I get with the 18's is quite beneficial to me vs the 19's (way too many expansion cracks and potholes here). Not that I'm not still looking at 19's (just like the ones you've got) anyway!! LOL

    They are Champion wheels, i think from Porsche, but could not be sure, Jag.

    I found the stock clutch to be as smooth as a knife through butter-of course, I now have a Sachs level 3 (to handle the 700+ lb-ft of torque) that at 20-25% release sends me and my left foot thrust into my seatback-partly why I drive with the seat and seatback so far forward -and yes, the engine and transmission still run nicely.

    Do you plan to tune yours up a tad?

    I have been looking at various mods...but i want to get a hang of the stock car as it was designed. I only have anohter 2-3 months of driving before the winter, so I amy think of some modes next spring. First thing will likely be a livelier exhaust...

    i think 99% your clutch is upgraded to 850nm version ...

    i had a turbo S .. its smooth and nice , until i`ve changed my clutch to handle the 580hp / 800nm ...

    the problem is exactly same yours .. it starts to work in the last 25% of clutch depress .. but dont worry .. it needs smoe hundreds of kilo meters to find that its funny and better than the normal one .

    (( by the way ,,, now im using the 1600nm of torque ))
