Just got the call to spec my RS, options?

    Hi,

I just got off the phone, I got an October RS build. We have 48 hours to spec it per the rep. I have not really given it much thought, as I thought it was a pipe dream. Now I need to get into action.

What are your thoughts about options?

    Off the cuff:

    PCCB
    Adaptive seats
    Heated seats
    Xenon
    Orange/black wheels
    Black full leather
    Chrono

Thinking about bringing some orange into the interior, rear center console in orange, or maybe just gear trim. Maybe stiching.

If anyone has some quick photos of some interior color choice, console, stiching, etc, please post.

Thanks a lot. I'm still shaking I'm so freaked out.

Re: Just got the call to spec my RS, options?

I saw this exact car the other day in Menlo Park, CA. For an RS, I wouldn't get too flashy inside. Keep it all business. It's not really supposted to be anything but business. Just my 2 cents. Theo ther options you have selected are on track.

Full leather in an rs?! I think I would go for alcantra.
Deviated stitching in exterior color, orange? Think that would look awesome!
Also, I wouldn't go for the adaptive/heated seats. Sounds like a contradiction to its' racing nature.

Re: Just got the call to spec my RS, options?

It's an RS, not just a GT3, so keep going in the spirit of the car: bucket seats (it's a must have!!!) For the rest, the Sport Chrono doesn't look so track oriented in my opinion, as it's not that practical. Furthermore, for track days, you'll need specific measurement devices which will make the sport chrono more like a gadget than a really useful tool...

I agree with Oliver, although I think the bucket seats are not available in the US, and in that case the adaptive seats are the best choice, since you can adjust the lateral support.

The Chrono is just a gadget. If you track the car, get some GPS-based system, e.g. from Racelogic.
You get the sport button anyway on the GT3/GT3RS, even if you don't opt for the Chrono.

Re: Just got the call to spec my RS, options?

I saw a GT3 RS delivered at Rusnak Pasadena that was optioned out to $150k msrp. Full leather, yellow belts, deviating stitching, carbon fibre, PCM, Sport Chrono, etc. etc. the owner was thrilled with the car.

IMO, it's your car. Make it however you want.

I ordered Natural Grey leather on my GT3. Nobody else I know has spent that much on a GT3 interior (including console, hatch cover, and some other upgrades). But I like the dark grey better than black and am not sorry I spent the extra bucks.

    PCCB - RS Must-Have IMO
    Adaptive seats RS Must-Have/in US
    Heated seats Yes
    Xenon Yes
    Orange/black wheels Black
Black full leather Yes. Maybe Alcantara for center of seats etc.
Chrono Yes, you'll really want the sensative throttle mapping, plus the track timer is very appropriate for an RS

Re: Just got the call to spec my RS, options?

Since you cannot order race bucket seats in the US, get the standard seats and replace them with buckets asap.

Cancel chrono. It does nothing useful in a GT3 (you get the sport button standard).

Full leather has nothing to do with seats in an RS. It applies to dash trim, etc.

Keep the inerior simple and spend the saving on roll cage, race seats, 18'' wheels and Hoosiers. The standard 19'' wheels and new Cup tires are drawing complaints from serious trackers for understeering.

I've heard this too. The 18's don't fit over the new PCCB's though, right?

If the RS is like the regular GT3, you don't need the chrono clock to get the "sport" button. It comes with the car. With chrono, all you get in addition is the clock on the dash. Unless you are going to track and time your laps, then the clock would be mainly decorative. Some people like its look on the dash, others don't.

If you're going to order chrono, then to get full benefit from it, you might want to order PCM, as well.

Or you can skip the whole thing, both chrono and PCM, which is what I did. I do not track, do not use navigation, and therefore I went for the cleaner look of no chrono and no PCM.

Re: Just got the call to spec my RS, options?

    The less options the better

Re: Just got the call to spec my RS, options?

Re: Just got the call to spec my RS, options?

sarg3 - when is your car physically expected to arrive for you to pick up ? tia

Re: Just got the call to spec my RS, options?

Mid november im told, but i guess we will see.

Re: Just got the call to spec my RS, options?

I agree with the comments to forego the Sport Crono.

Besides that I understand the seat heaters, given you are in Colorado. Are buckets possible in the States? If so get em, otherwise never mind.

I like the Viper Green as well and there will be less of them on the road, but orange looks wonderful too.

Just remember the one principle: "If in doubt, get it!!!" and you'll be fine!
