    Adaptive seats

I'm hoping not to offend but has anyone else noticed that adaptive seats are not for the portly. Twice now at the dealership I noticed that the salesmen were unable to shoe horn themselves into the seats. I guess the message is if you order the adaptive seats you have to watch your waist.

I think they're comfortable but has anyone found issue with them?

    Re: Adaptive seats

I think that portly people would find the adaptive seats OK. you can change the "wings" on the seat bottom as well as on the seat back. I guess it depends what portly and shoe horn means to you - I had a colleague who was a Lotus Elan freak - he owned 5 of them and he was around 5'10" and 300+ lbs, that took some shoehorn!

    Re: Adaptive seats

There's another related thing to consider.

For some people the ASS will at first make your butt ache after prolonged drive when the car is new. It seems to take a few weeks to get used to them or wear them in. Same thing happened on my BMW "sport seats" I thought I made a big mistake when I first got the car but in a few weeks I was fine.

    Re: Adaptive seats

I'm a fair sized guy - 5'10", 240lbs. With the lower bolsters opened up I found the adaptive seats comfortable. Plus, they'll definitely hold you in during some hard cornering. There's nothing worse than sliding around in a seat during some spirited driving.

    Re: Adaptive seats

I would definitely reccomend a test drive with adaptive seats if you have a concern, they are snug, even when adjusted wide. But once adjusted, they are the most comfortable seats I have ever had.

    Sorry,
I should have said "fat or obese" for portly and "squeeze" for shoe horn. Come on you know what I meant. But all the info on the adaptive seats is appreciated. The funny part is that the sales people should know how to adjust the seats and they don't!

    Re: Adaptive seats

It's funny - my sales team (both the salesman and the sales manager) both recommended I not get the ASS last year. Perhaps they didn't know how to use them either. Or perhaps they're just not all they're cracked up to be. Neither of them is really big.

According to my doctor I'm morbidly obese, but I find the seats extremely comfortable. I drove more than 750 miles in one day on one of my break in drives, and wasn't tired/sore at all. It's a very comfortable GT cruiser. The real good news is I still have some adjustment left, so I can gain a few more pounds. Please pass the pie ala mode!

    Re: Adaptive seats

not totally fat ass at 200lbs. ..but wondered about the wisdom of ass seats...most comfortable seats of any car ive had easy in and out ...no lower back anything even after extended drives...i keepem adjusted out for every day wife type trips...but when you want to push it some snug them in and you wont be going anywhere...must have imo

    Over the Hill,
What do doctors know. Oh sh-t, that's right I'm a doctor. Cheer up were all obese according to the actuarial tables.

Well, in the 30 miles I've driven so far the seats are great. They definitely have way more travel than I originally thought.

    Re: Adaptive seats

Yeah, I'll drink to that Doc. Actually the only worry I have is that I'll eat my way out of this car like I did with sailboats. Oh well, you only go 'round once so you may as well make the best of it.
