    Targetting the Veyron

    From www.germancarfans.com

    Targetting the Veyron
H&R is known the world over for their sport suspension and chassis components, as well as maintaining a prominent sponsoring presence with many motorsport teams. It is safe to say that H&R is a company on a mission. Back in August 2006 during a six hour endurance race at Nurburgring which ended in an early accident, the Mission 400 Plus project, was born. The foundation of the Mission 400 Plus project saw a cooperation between H&R and RS Tuning to build a record breaking 400 km/h street legal sports car. Later that year the 1054hp Porsche 911 Turbo prototype was presented at the Essen Motor Show.
Simultaneously, the 9ff engineers in Dortmund have been working hard on their own 400+ Porsche GT9 project. This 910+ hp Porsche 911 Turbo should, in theory, be able to beat the Veyron by 1,5 km/h in regards to top speed, but we won't find out until the GT9 actually hits the track at Nardo later this year. The official presentation of the GT9 will take place some time after Frankfurt.

After an initial surge of interest in these two projects, a new tidbit of information has sparked our curiosity once again. H&R has become a main sponsor of the 9ff GT9 while cutting its losses with RS Tuning. It is not entirely clear why H&R jumped ship, but rest assured the Veyron record will be challenged.

Also, two new images of the GT9 have surfaced! So stay tuned and let the speculating begin... will the Veyron be dethroned?

    Re: Targetting the Veyron

Everything OK but why that stupid and ugly steering?

    Re: Targetting the Veyron

If I car has to look like that (horrid), to be as fast as a Veyron then, IMO, it has already lost the battle..

    Re: Targetting the Veyron

That is really not an attractive car. It looks like it belongs in a NASCAR race.

    Re: Targetting the Veyron

this car is utterly boring and ugly

    Re: Targetting the Veyron

I would like to add some comments because reading two cent's truth in forums is a bit boring.

it's surprising to see how the Veyron hold the breath of the automotive world and how people were pleased to hear the fastest car on earth has been created. Well except it's more than that, it's a tour de force of engineering, performance and luxury. But being the world production fastest car makes you a target for a lot of people.
However they will build no more than a couple of hideous prototype with gaping air vents, kerbed wheels and damaged spoilers after too many high speed laps and an interior that's only a match for the mess in my room. Think Callaway Corvette, 9ff and so on.

So H&R got involved with RS tuning ? well as far as suspension settings go, a lot of other brands can fine tune a car to achieve maximum speed on oval tracks, being NASCAR teams or MB/Maybach with the Exelero.

Why don't they focus on offering bright technology, ecological, light, inexpensive to build and maintain ?
What is the big point of overtaking a veyron by 1.5kph when they can stand such top speed during a couple of seconds before the tank sounds hollow ?
It's time to move on from childish games and compare what can be.

I totally agree with you on what you said. It is just that being a Porsche derived car and made by a company that it is famous for trying hard to beat the fastest in the world, and because it seems that there are still a lot of people ready to pay for "I may go faster than you...." even if there will never do that in their life..... I post it on the forum.

    Re: Targetting the Veyron

9FF does some amazing engineering, and I understand that the cars are quite purpose built, but they are quite ugly!

    Re: Targetting the Veyron

butt ugly down to the last details...quilted dash, blue paint etc. etc....they would have served themselves well by comissioning a talented rennteam designer

    Re: Targetting the Veyron

A "tunned" 911 may beat the Veyron, but what if someone goes and "tunnes" the Veyron in turn

    I really like that phrase.

Next time Frau fritz complains about the state of my Study I'll just tell her I'm aiming for the 9ff interior look.
