Ok guys 500miles in on my .2 GT3. What can I say. It’s the most surreal savage driving experience I have ever had. It’s so analogue but so smooth at the same time. And I have only been to 7k rpm a few times. Can’t imagine what the last 2k rpms feel like. Noticed everyone opens their car windows to listen to it. Sports exhaust and PDF-s are amazing
Only 2 things I don’t like or haven’t got used to yet. First the PDF paddles are too small. They need to be longer. Second the black winglets keep making me thing someone is behind me. Need to get used to them.
Brakes are a little noisy but they are starting to be run in nicely.
More to come soon. Hope the weather stays nice for a few more weeks.

I had Macarbon CF paddle extenders on my McLaren. It was night and day difference. The paddles improved the experience more than any other option you could even get on the car. If you said I could either have 50 hp or paddle extenders, I'd take the paddles. They are that good.

Aren't the paddles the same size as the ones on a TTS?
One problem with extended paddles is with Porsche the paddles move with the steering wheel. Ferrari paddles which are large are fixed. I am not sure I want large paddles moving when the wheel turns. They could interfere with the maneuver.

I noticed on a recent test drive of a 991.2 PDK that the paddles are smaller, AND more inset towards the wheel centre, than on our 997, to the point where anyone with smaller hands now has to rotate the wrist to reach them and shift (not the case with the older ones). No idea why Porsche changed them, and it is not different with the different steering wheel options - relative position of the paddles is the same.

Since I didn’t get to drive my own GT3 on my trip (at Berlin airport now to go home), I did make pretty good use of my 991.2 Turbo loaner. I know these numbers are not great, but not bad for street tires and all achieved on nordscleife:
Best lap was 8:23 BTG - still learning...

That's a pretty good BTG time! How do you value the Turbo on track?

Not that brave - only 1,000 Euros at risk (substitute terms as Euro Delivery)

DuckieRS:You did well Grant. How was the trackday at Spa?
Spa day was a bit crazy - many unnecessary crashes. One guy totaled an F12 on pit exit. I left at lunch as it was like a demolition derby 😮

It was fast enough to make up for some of my mistakes, but not nearly as fun as the GT3 I drove in Leipzig.

Welcome back anytime!
When you left the Ring I swear I could hear her whisper: "Graaaaannnnt, it is Suuuub-8 tiiiiiiime" with a ghostly voice.
Kobalt - spending time with you was the highlight of the trip
Hope I can return soon and I hope Euro Delivery program is restored...

DaveGordon:Blimey - who was the organiser of the Spa day?
Curbstone- all of their advertising said the best organized track days in the world. So either I was unlucky or they still have some room for improvement. Seemed to be more great cars there than great drivers...

Demolition derby is for jalopies not F12s! Sounds like you had a terrific time Grant, all in all. Got to admit we don't have too many track days over in the US where you see such exotic machinery in abundance, crashes notwithstanding!
