Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen!
I am 24 yrs. old, a student, and an automobile fanatic. I love learning about and evaluating all cars whether they are good or bad, old or new. More than that. I love driving. If I am ever relegated to the worst car in the world, all I ask is a decent road where I can throw that car into the corners and extract maximum performance testing the limits of man and machine -- using proper warm-up and cool-down procedure, of course. Last summer, I took an MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) course which means I am officially addicted to motorcycles as well (this additional addiction will disgust my mother ).
I am a member at bmwm5.com and am an avid fan of the E39 5-series especially the 540i 6-speed and M5. Since BMW is going where I don't want to go with its upcoming models, I need to find another manufacturer that makes cars that are high-quality, relatively reliable, performance-oriented, beautiful, overengineered to a fault and most of all, cater to the wants and needs of a hard-core, enthusiast, manual-gearbox-loving driver. And the driving experience must equal or, preferably, exceed the "Ultimate Driving Experience." The purer the driving, the happier I am.
With the sale of Porsche's naturally aspirated 8200 rpm 6-speed manual GT3 and 8200 rpm 6-speed manual Carrera GT to the USA, and the availability of a manual gearbox in every model including the Cayenne, I just might venture to say I have found that manufacturer.
Utterly seduced by the goose-bump evoking howl and soul of a Ferrari 355 V8 but wise enough to understand its inconsistent temperament when called to duty on a daily basis under all conditions, and after reading about and repeatedly viewing various video's on the CGT and realizing that Porsche has finally built a German Ferrari -- that, according to Jeremy Clarkson (who's no Tiff), bites you if you are not an experienced driver-- and is generous enough to build 1500 of them for more than enough people to buy and enjoy without compromising build quality, attention to detail, and driver satisfaction, I can boldly state that I have, indeed, without a shadow of a doubt, found that manufacturer.
BTW, my member # is 3693. If you add up the 3+6 = 9.
9 coupled to 93 gives me 993. Can you believe that!? My favorite body style. If that doesn't prove I'm a Porschephile, I don't know what will.
Request permission to come aboard, Madams & Sirs.
