question about a 3M clear bra?

I am thinking of getting a clear bra and here's what I was quoted by Premier in Northern California:

    Standard Precut Kit:

    21" hood bonnet
fenders to match w/ hood pc
    mirrors
    headlamps
    driving lights
    front bumper

    Price: $890

Options: priced to be added to kit above

    1. custom 21" hood bonnet (emblem removed w/ film wrapped around leading edge) + custom front bumper (headlamps / driving lights, signals removed for film tuck) = $290

    2. custom 48" hood - film stops 3 inches short of the top corners - small area exposed on the top corners - $350

    3. inner front and rear wheel arches - $125 (4 corners directly behind tires)

    4. custom full fenders - $690 (both sides - seamless application)

First off, is this a good price? I have no idea, I haven't contacted anyone else yet... I was told that Premier is one of the best, but I was also told that Sticker City in Sherman Oaks is good as well.

Second, is it worth it to do the 48" hood upgrade and / or the full fenders?? It seems like alot of money but I think it may look better than having a line across the hood and fenders, or do you not notice it that much?

If I already have a few chips (or more) already, the car is over 2 years old, is it still a good idea to do this?

    Thanks!

I had Premier wrap my Carrara White 997 GT3 with the pre-cut kit and added wheel arches. They did a great job. My front bumper had a few nicks and scrapes before the installation. Sam and Wilson did whatever they could to minimize those blemishes and then covered over them. The clear bra has protected my car many times since it was installed. I highly recommend Premier.

So you say the standard kit + the arches is adequate. Is the 48" hood and full fenders overkill? Can you see a line where the bra ends? Did you check other peoples prices first?

Re: question about a 3M clear bra?

I think it's overkill to cover so much of the car. It comes down to personal taste. The areas I had covered are the most likely to sustain damage. There is definitely a visible line across the front hood where the bra ends. I made a decision to live with that. I checked out other companies and none came more highly recommended then Premier. A major part of my decision was based on the skill of the guys would do the install. Sam and Wilson are experts. btw - I have no connection to them other than as a customer.

Re: question about a 3M clear bra?

Seems like a rip. Didn't tally it up but it looks like it'd be around $2K by the time it's done. The price of this work has gone sky high it appears. Ask if they're using 3M Aero? It's the best material and has a glossy paint like finish.
What kind of driving do you do? If it's just local stuff you may not need it.

Re: question about a 3M clear bra?

Had both my cars done at Mckenna Porsche for about $700-750. That's on the highend of prices when I was doing my research.

Re: question about a 3M clear bra?

I had options #1 and 2 done by them. They are the best. The full hood looks as though there is no shield. The full fender is for looks (no line). I have never heard of sticker city. Everyone goes with Premier...GR

Re: question about a 3M clear bra?

I got Avery Stoneshield, which when I researched runs about the same as Ventureshield, and 3M.

I got my whole front end #1,2, 4 the A pillar, the side view mirrors, the rocker panels and the whole rear bumper for $1750 in Raleigh by the same guy that does the local porsche dealership.

Re: question about a 3M clear bra?

Premier is over-priced, and maybe over-hyped by the forum cliques (figure the reason?). Shop around and you'll get just as good a quality but at 50% less cost.

They spend a lot of time marketing to forum members, I wonder why?

They have done work for me, and I found their quality to be OK, but inconvenient and poor value. But, they did tell me I had a great job, so that must be worth extra.

If they are serious about business they should post prices, and websites that have them as sponsors should insist that they make their prices public.

When I see them publish prices I might reverse my stand.

So, not everybody goes to Premier.

But, if you can't notice their quality, remember:

    "The Emperor has no clothes"

    Are these safe?

Are these products safe? They do yellow with time... will they come off without leaving a residue? has anyone gone through this process successfully?
