Re: Cayman S Vs 997 report by AMS

So, one draws a conclusion and then writes the whole article slanted according to this conclusion? Reading this, one would think there is no other side to the story. Worthless journalism IMO.

Re: Cayman S Vs 997 report by AMS

Isn't that just sour grapes on your part?

Re: Cayman S Vs 997 report by AMS

No. I don't have a standard 911 Carrera (which is the car against which the Cayman S was compared) so any 'conclusions' drawn by this journalist are of no direct relevance to me.

No offence intended, however, you really should realise that, when I wrote my opinion, I was offering a sincere view of this article which, in my view, is not only poorly written, but, more importantly, fatally flawed in its journalistic bias.

The Cayman S is a very, very fine car. No question about that IMHO. However, the fact that a particular journalist cannot appreciate the unique experience of driving a rear-engined sports car does not mean that that experience is consequentially inferior. It just devalues the credibility of that journalist's opinion.

It's a little disappointing that you so readily jumped to the simplistic view that my opinion is a case of sour grapes.

Not jumping to a simplistic view, I used to own a 911 and a Cayman S and agree with the writer. Just seems it's easier for you to dismiss the writer as partisan.

Re: Cayman S Vs 997 report by AMS

Of course, I entirely respect your right to your opinion. I beg to differ and my opinion is certainly not a case of sour grapes.

To belittle the basis upon which my opinion is based as a case of sour grapes is a simplistic misunderstanding of my view.

I don't 'dismiss' people. I do however form a considered view based upon my own analysis of what they are saying. I don't form a cursory, casual view which one could describe as dismissive.

Re: Cayman S Vs 997 report by AMS

You have to remember that this article was written in Australia where the price difference between the cars is $50,000. This is a lot of money (a carton of Heineken here is $45) in anyones language.

I have another article from Wheels magazine here where the conclusion is the Boxster is as good as the Cayman!!

In the end you pay your money but whether you get value for money is in the eye of the beholder.

Uhmm... Porsche did a good job with marketing.
The Cayman is a Boxster with a fixed roof. Anyone that tells you differently is a car salesman.
