Ha ha! What? Me in a burning Ferrari? Well, at least I'll be telling the truth when I say that I'm hot .

Isn't "Mittelmaß" the correct translation of "Masterwerk"?

What I find also disturbing are the words with which Saumra tries to blandish the relatively poor results. He's still a true Porsche-enthusiast in the end...

He tries his best - but still do his words reveil the true qualities of this car. Same as in the recent GT3 RS test. He had severe difficulties in hiding what he really thinks about the car

P.S.: Just checked the thesaurus - you are right regarding Mittelmaß and Masterwerk

Does he really try to conceal it?

Anyway, it's good that we revealed the true meaning of Masterwerk.

Re: 997 turbo Supertest in Sport Auto...

    Can someone post the article?

    Thanks

Re: 997 turbo Supertest in Sport Auto...

Porsche better work some magic and reduce the weight of the TT.

Re: 997 turbo Supertest in Sport Auto...

A couple degrees of negative camber and a slight drop of 20mm would probably help those ring times tremedously - those are one of the main differences btw the GT3/RS and the TT

    Yes,

And an ECU mod. and exhaust change like you have done could have made a big difference, as well. Thus a modded 997TT or a RUF would be more competitive.

Well... AMS tested modded 997tt's few isssue's ago and end resluts were pretty bad. In fact most of this modded 997tt's were not any faster then good factory manual car.
    Cars involved were by Gemballa(550hp), Speedart(530hp), Techart(580hp) and Wendland(530hp).

Difference between them and factory original were minor...

Yes, although I was of the impression these mods. were relatively conservative.

I am curious. What did Von Saurma have to say about the TT and RS?

Re: 997 turbo Supertest in Sport Auto...

    Here are some samples:

"That's how it should work in theorie. In practice, the systems (PTM, suspension) do not function quite as harmonically as suggested by the theoretical perspective of the Porsche engineers."

"... suspension setup exhibits tumbling movements, switches between slight over and understeer..."

"... faster on HHR in softer suspension mode than in "sport"..."

"... feels strange in fast corners ... very demanding..."

    disappointing data

If you consider that the 997S clocked 8:05 on normal tires whereas the TT has been equipped with sports tires (which may provide an advantage of 5 sec ) it's astonishing how close the laptimes are...

You know, it stupefies me to think that the new Turbo may be SLOWER than the 996TT on the Nring on standard tyres .

May? It is slower than the 996TT with standard street tires.

So, the 977tt is too focus on comfort to be track oriented. It's official Porsche has gone soft here.

They'll just have to try and redeem themselves will the GT2. God knows it won't make it on looks.

You know, I think the GT2 will actually be as fast as we hope for it to be. It just bothers me that the ultimate all-weather supercar has gone soft.

Re: 997 turbo Supertest in Sport Auto...

Ok can somebody enlighten me about 7.40 Porsche 997 TT time on Ring??

Short Circuit or a fly-by start??
