Pics of my 2005 996TSCab EVO GT700 with more CF
I got my 2005, triple black 996TSCab back from my mechanic last week following its EVO/GIAC/Garrett GT700 power upgrade, which I also modified with the Porsche X73 European sport suspension option with the special motor mounts, riding on fresh Michelin PS2's, and still on the outside completely stock, absolutely no external bling, albeit inside I added some OEM CF pieces from Porsche, as well as a few from Bumperplugs-and many thanks to Eric Sklut @ Bumperplugs for working patiently with me on the CF, to Gert @ Carnewal who coordinated the X73 importation, and to the staff @ Evolution Motorsports in Arizona who arranged the GT700 power upgrade for me.
And BOY, talk about power! This car is now quite violent-I've been able to drive it only two days this past week, since it snowed here yet again and there is salt all over roads, but I have broken in the clutch-a Sachs level 3 upgrade from level 2, I figured out how to ease into first gear from a stop without stalling, and the clutch bites less so I can run it smoothly in daily driving. Once the weather improves and I can drive it again hard, I'll give a more detailed driving report, but those Garrett turbo's housed in the K16 shells really push the car brutally hard, and the X73 with the motor mounts on new PS2's kept the car planted without much wheel spin in cool dry weather last week. I'm betting this thing will do 0-100mph/160kph under seven, and the quarter well down near ten (or under) on 93 octane, and when I refill with 100 octane and try the race program, I bet it would easily go under ten for the quarter.
I am thinking about taking a "defensive driving" course this spring to get a four-point buffer on my driving record ( ), since this car scoffs at speed limits. But the question is, should I take the course in my 996TSCab GT700 or in my Noble M400 when it comes back north from Florida with 600HP? Or will they "fail" me on the spot in either car?
Anyway, here are some pics:
