My 911 Rear Ended and smashed..... PICS

A woman in a 1972 A TEAM van is running away from a hit and run accident. Cops finally slow her down but before that she rams into a truck that was stopped behind me at a stop light which then smashed into my car. The cops arrested the hit and run woman and she has no insurance, no drivers licence, no registration, and NO LICENSE PLATES. After about 30 min in the back of the patrol car she gets on her back starts trying to kick out the windows ala COPS style. The cops ask what her problem is and she says "she's HOT" !! WTF. You just did $20,000 worth of damage to my car and you're arrested and you're worried about how hot you are? Then the guy who was directly behind me decides his neck hurts so they call the ENTIRE SFFD and he get's removed in an Ambulance with a neck brace on a back board !!!

so sorry man , I know it means little to say this but at least it can be fixed. But the way it happened is really incredible. Crazy people are everywhere.

If it makes you feel any better, if your 1/4 panels aren't tweeked or buckled in any way, you're very lucky, as it'll be a very simple and invisible repair. $20K in damage??? That's a tall number, did the damage extend into your 1/4 panels?

ouch.
Understand the woman that caused the accident had no insurance. But if I'm reading this right the woman that had no insurance was the one who hit a truck that was behind you into you? All depends but the trucks (insurance co.) that was behind you should be the one that should pays for your damages. Not sure if you thought you were going to get stuck because the woman didn't have insurance or if you were just stating that fact. Obviously sucks though, hopefully it's just cosmetic, doesn't involve the quarters and you're up running soon. A get well to your S.

Sorry to hear and see the damage to your 911S. I don't know if you use yours as a daily driver, but the fear of getting tail-ended by some "doofus" who has pulled up too close behind me at a stop sign or light keeps me from driving mine too often on big city streets. Ditto for those who love to tail-gate 911's on highways. I have a good insurer, but my rates - which are really low due to a pretty good driving record and a high ($1,000) collision deductible - would probably go through the roof.

That's what I would like to say to you to... A Porsche is a very nice and special car, but it's still a car and so it can get fixed or repaired. Nevertheless it "hurts" to see your pics.

as long as your engine is ok...it's not that bad. I was rear-ended too in December and I hardly remember the feeling of the first seconds post crash:-)
I'd be more worried with the paperwork. Not insured?!? how can u drive not being insured?

First you are OK.

Be thankful. The car you can fix. It does suck.

I would blow a gasket if it happen to me too.

Hopefully, the guy behind you will have insurance to cover the damages.

John, I believe you should claim the insurance on the truck that was behind you. How this work is the truck behind you should responsible for your damage and the lady who hit him should responsible for his damage plus yours. However the truck should pay for yours and claim the lady who hit him. As long as the truck behind you has insurance, you should be O.K.. Find yourself a lawyer, he will explain everything to you. Sorry to hear that and good luck to you.

You have nothing to worry about. That's why YOU have insurance. Your insurance company with subrogate against whoever they can to recoop losses. I don't consider the truck at fault (directly behind you). He just happened to be in the middle position.

What needs to happen is this 'woman' needs to go to prison.

Insurance said not to claim against the car directly behind me because they're just going to say they were pushed into me anyway which is correct. So my claim will be covered under uninsured motorist coverage and then they will try to go after the crackhead woman who hit the car behind me.

I have an appointment at the body shop this afternoon. I can't open the engine compartment because the deck lid is bent.. but the car seems to be running fine. I'm not so worried about a perfect repair, just the hassle of having a rental and waiting etc etc... it's just a pain in the ass..... Also - It's a LEASE... I WAS thinking of buying the car at the end of the lease - but no more - Now I'll get a new one !!!

Well - she had NO plates, no registration, no DL, no insurance... But she was pretty upset b/c the back of the police car was too hot for her....

Usually, the insurance will take the easiest way out that is paid out by your uninsured motorist. If there is no impact to your future insurance rate, I guess that is O.K.. However, whatever the amount the insurance pay out, they will try to recover from your future insurance premium. Good luck and let us know how is the repair turn out.

You're better off because it is a lease. If it was financed you would be the one hurt in the re-sale value.

As long as those complex compound-curved quarters aren't involved.... Replacing the rear bumper cover, bumperrettes, and a new decklid is CAKE, parts plus materials plus maybe 10 hours of total labor, and that's generous.....

You'll have to do a good graduated day-long polish-out on the rest of your car so that the new pieces don't stick out like sore thumbs as being obviously shinier and fresher than the rest of the car. Such is black.

Let us know the diagnosis, and I'll have my fingers crossed for you. As I've said, if the damage isn't more than what we see in the pics, you'll just miss the seat-time...

I understand what you're probably going through right now, calm down and your insurance company will take care of the so demanding paperwork.

That sucks. The good news is that insurance rates can't be raised as a result of an uninsured motorist accident. You had uninsured motorist right? I would have loved to see the high hoe trying to kick out the cop car windows....classic.

I think I'm right when I say the lady (sorry the b***") with no insurance is not any of your business. The car that hit you was the truck driver. Therefor, it's his insurance that will cover your damage. Then his insurance will have the right to sue the b**** (didn't make the mistake twice).

As far as I know, it works like that. Although I'm no US lawyer. Nick, where are you ?

I'll make sure of that. What your insurance tells you doesn't make sense to me. It's way easier to make the truck driver insurance pay for the damage to your car and let them try to get a cent of that woman.

I'm sure the woman is broke. If she has no insurance, that means she has no money. So your insurance company will have a terrible time getting a cent out of her.

That said, I'm not sure. I'd make sure if I were you.

Sorry to hear about the wreck John. Good thing you weren't injured. As we all know, it could've been worse. That truck behind you acted as a buffer. If she would've hit you directly, you might not be on this forum, but in the hospital.

How are they going to subrogate? The woman who was responsible didn't have insurance(they'll never get a dime from her). The truck driver who was insured wasn't at fault.
I can't see how it'd be subrogated.
