I've got one, but only pop in occasionally as there are too many non-Cayman owners on this board. Wushushu, you don't own a Cayman, you don't even own a Porsche, yet you are always on here putting the Cayman down - and the question was 'Who has a Cayman on this board?' not, who is going to buy one when it gets more horsepower?

Perhaps you didn't read the first part of my reply.
And yes, I am consistent in my position. The Cayman is a great car and I was all ready to buy a MY07 one, only to be bitterly disappointed by Porsche AG making zero response to all the reviews that said the Cayman was underpowered. Even so, I'm still willing to buy one, as soon as Porsche upgrades the performance (through more horsepower) relative to the current performance cars available on the market today.
If you already have a Porsche Cayman I hope you enjoy it. If you don't already have one, and there have only been a few thousand sold so there are billions of people who don't, I urge you to join in my boycott so we can all have a better Cayman, either for first time buyers or for current owners who want to upgrade to the another Cayman when their lease expires. The only thing Porsche AG cares about is sales figures.

@Wushuhsu: Are you going to race your (proposed) Cayman?? IF so I can understand the performance concern, but then it's a very flexible platform and there are plenty of things you can do to eek out more horses.
IF not, then why the worry about the percieved lack of HP?? How many stop light drag races do you get in?? I assure you that the Cayman S is a very fast car. Plenty fast enough to get the majority of drivers in trouble.
People worry too much about the low(er) HP or the lack of LSD. Personally it's still the fastest vehicle I have ever used on the road excluding my Ducati, but it isn't far off that!!
Methinks you're more worried about barstool drag races where numbers mean more than skill and a sublime package.

You must not own a Chevy Corvette, a Mitsubishi Evo, or a Subaru WRX. The first time you're smoked off a line by a car half the price of your Porsche, you'll feel like a sucker for paying so much for such a slow car.

No, I would feel like an [beep] for getting drawn into a stoplight drag race by a punk in a hot econo-box. If you want to drag race, get a Z06 and be done with it.
Porsche is not going to throw a lot of HP at the Cayman any time soon, so stop waiting (if you are). Porsche NEVER throws a lot of HP at a car. They incrementally let it creep up over the course of years to encourage as many repurchases as possible.
So either love it for what it is, or I would advise moving on. Or call Alois Ruf and get a supercharged 3.4/3.6 that will put 400+ HP on the pavement.
But you will still lose to the Z06 unless you can figure out how to stuff a LOT more rubber under the arches. lol

If Porsche is too arrogant to build the car that I want to buy, then Audi, Alfa Romeo, or even the master at whose feet a beaten and humbled Porsche learned the famed Toyota Production System from, Lexus, will. Or maybe I'll just buy a Nissan GT-R and go Porsche Turbo hunting.
Make not doubt about it, I'd rather buy a Porsche. But it seems Porsche has gotten too uppity with its recent success at gouging its loyal customers and has forgotten that it wasn't that long ago it was on the brink of bankruptcy.

Yeah...i wouldnt bother getting a porsche; the BHP numbers are too low and they are just crap overall really.. I mean who would? Oh yeah btw I'm a cayman owner and lets just say 400bhp or not I still destroy 99% of cars on the road and the moment some big shot in a jap-box tries to race..i just back off and relax into my warm, cosy, leather-filled, surround-sound, luxury automobile... beat that!
Wushushu, have you actually driven a cayman yet? Im not trying to sell you one im just saying they are alot better than you might think!...personally I'd still rather have a 997 though...just gotta keep savin' the pennies!

I agree. If you're only into boy-street-drag-racing, then a Porsche isn't your car.
