    Re: Ferrari in Geneva

The photographer appears to be more interested in the girls than the cars

    Re: Ferrari in Geneva

Damn, what is a point of this photo ? I didn't get it

    Re: Ferrari in Geneva

What is the car in the photo above?

Looks like the top has been chopped off by something very sharp!!?

    Re: Ferrari in Geneva

Most of the people in Geneva asked the same question about this 612 "sink through the floor" display...

BTW, it is new Bose multimedia navi system...

Can you already tell some of the new features?

Any guess when this will be available in the 599GTB as well?

    Many thanks

    Re: Ferrari in Geneva

    Markus,

Sorry, but according to my info this new Bose navi system is only for 612... Apparetnly there is NO place in 599 dash for system of this size... Shame... You will have to use old Becker unit I am affraid...

Markus, just rip out the passenger seat and install it there . Just not sure whether the significant other would be too happy .

    Andrej,

It is Bose unit, NOT something made by Elektronska Industrija(Ei) in Nis, Serbia.

But, still it is too big for 599...

    Good decision.

There's not really much need of such things in a Ferrari.

Need for what? Navigation systems or wives?

Markus, good choice - just hand her a map and let her guide you .

One of trade-offs of 599's superb exhaust note and tight suspension (and associated vibrations into passenger compartment) is a cabin that is prob incompatible w/an audiophile-quality stereo......

Would observe that 599's iPod integration is more seamless/intuitive than that of CL's (MB apparently decided late to offer iPod compat, so sloppy/afterthought integration resulted); and 599's Bluetooth is a remarkably useable speakerphone to conduct business calls during commuting ....but suspect audiophiles would be better served in CL63/600/65, than by 599.....simple solution, just have both 599 and CL63/600/65 in one's two-car commuter fleet.....

BTW, interesting that P's ever-productive engineers/marketers still don't have iPod compat/Bluetooth for the allegedly GT-ish, everyday supercar 997TT...and yet continue to fail to develop PDK/an acceptable sportscar-like exhaust note ...nor have they solved 997TT's turbo lag issue .....but I digress....

    Re: Ferrari in Geneva

No plans of the Bose Multimedia interface for the 430 and 599, at least not until a modificata version.

VKSF, I'd like to see some pics of your 599 please.

I'm about to change the interior color of mine after having sat in the one on the Geneva stand, light grey interior is very nice!

    Do it!
    I love it.

    Re: Ferrari in Geneva

...and IMO it works even better with the "carbonized" 599

    Re: Ferrari in Geneva

Thank you for the pics Zz.
    I think I will indeed.

One concern with the Daytona seats, they seem to keep some Black leather stripes when you go for other than black interior, it's odd.
I'd hope that if you go for full light grey then so are the Daytona Seats.

I like the Black upper part of the dashboard though, nice contrast.
And my car is indeed fully "carbonised"

Following that change, I will also modify the stitching from grey to black and from STC1 to STC2, tiny difference, the latter is a bit thicker, can hardly see it to be honest.

I will also change to calipers from grey to yellow, the Geneva car had them and it's pimp, but also quite nice really.

Ferrari has given me a password for the owner's site which will soon have they new car configurator online, it was available in Geneva to play with and it's amazing, you can chose any details down to color stitching, STC1 or 2, look at interior pics from different angles, it really is brilliant and much better than any other configurator I've tried so far.

Where did you find those pics of light grey interior please? I'd like to check more pics. Thanks.

I would stay away from these very light interiors, they look very nice brand new but age quickly. Based on experience with Porsche and BMW, maybe Ferrari is different..

That is not quite the case: I sat in a car with Tan Daytona seats recently. They were Tan without any black

    It is different.

The grey is not that light, and it is quite hard-wearing. The black leather in my friend's F430 suffered more stains from water and grease than mine. And I use my car as a commuter, even when it's raining -- 17.000 km so far.

I would NEVER recommend BMW's light grey leather -- it is nearly WHITE and very sensitive. It turns blue in a second if you like wearing jeans

Yes. At least these grey Daytona seats from a 599 press car are single-colored (except for the piping, but this is probably specc'd).

    Re: Ferrari in Geneva

Thanks. Very ressourceful Zz! Where do you find all these pics?
Is the last one Grigio scuro (light grey) or beige?
    It looks very nice.

Well... when I specc'd my F430 with grigo scuro leather some time ago (three years... boy, time is running fast...) it did cost me some sleepless nights (even my dealer criticized my choice) and I developed a habit of collecting Ferrari pictures with grey interiors ever since if I run into them

The 599 GTB from my first posting in this thread is from Swisscarsighting's Geneva 2006 featurette:
    http://www.swisscarsightings.com/geneve20063.html

Regarding the last one, I actually have no idea. On a first glimpse it appeared grey to me, but now... hm, could be beige.

Now that is a feature I have been waiting for!

Nowadays you can choose so many details in a Ferrari, that it's impossible to imagine how everything looks like.
A good car configurator is the way to go!
