    Corvette Z06 Owners Hit GM With Class-Action Lawsuit Because The Car Is So Bad On Track

    The current Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is a supercharged monster, a 650 horsepower nightmare aimed at dominating the track in a way that shames Hellcats and Porsches alike. But it has a well-documented problem with overheating. Now Z06 owners have filed a class-action lawsuit against General Motors today, alleging that GM’s top-tier trackrat doesn’t deliver the performance they were promised.


    The lawsuit claims that a cooling system defect can put the 2015-2017 Z06 into “limp mode” after only 15 minutes of track use. Fifteen minutes! Not much of a track day

    You can sue for anything and everything!

    GM deserves to be sued in this case, if they don't address the issue voluntarily.

    Good luck to them. They'll have a hell of a time proving any of this. Hope they tested the car on 100 different track days in 50 different temperatures and 100 different weather conditions. Hope they tested it on a bunch of differ fuels and with a bunch of different drivers and for a bunch of different lengths of time.

    The amount of data you'll need to prove that Z06 doesn't work on the track is pretty large. I mean, they never said the car can run an endurance race. 20 minute stints is pretty normal for a lot of track days. If the car starts getting hot and needs longer cool down time, so be. It's a road car, not a track car or race car.

    I've only read anecdotal evidence, but the car has a really bad reputation on this issue (worse for the Automatic cars).  It's bad business for GM not to produce their flagship track car in a way that it can easily endure typical amateur track use.

    As I understand it, the identical powertrain works far better in the cheaper Camaro ZL1, due to much better cooling (primarly enabled by the much larger frontal area for greater air ingestion).

    I believe Whoopsy indicated the same about the Camaro when they were at his track up north.
