This is what you get for hiring a design guy from Saab... Some of the most uninspiring designs ever.

Unless Porsche figures out a way to make cars from mud I just don't see how they will keep up their current profitability.

yes..the S front looks really like a Saab..i prefer the pre restyling version, but the Turbo front looks really aggressive..

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

I would assume that porsche is going to be more profitabile per vehicle due to there amount of stock owned in VW, which has and most likley will continue to supply the Sub-frame, unibody and large portions of parts.
I like the change's they have made, even though there arn't many, but i think there focus will lean more twords the reliability and drivability, & interior design/ comfort. Which they will be counting on to boost there overall sales.

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

It's looking more and more like a Hyundai Santa Fe every minute.

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

Oh my god...That is absolutely HIDEOUS!

    What have they done??

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

X5 may have added third row seat....but my local BMW dealer told me it is only good for kids...I like the turbo front and rear on the '08 Cayenne. Also, looking forward to increased HP. I am going to place my order next week.

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

Actually, I have had a couple of dealers tell me that the fine print in the Jap cars manuals discourages children in the 3rd row because they are fragile, and the 3rd row is the crumple zone.
Personally, I love the look of my '06 Cayenne- very smart, understaed, classy and sporty. I can't stand the rear of the X5- it's just plain ugly, imho.
My P-Car dealer told me there are no federal regulations on 3rd row seating because they haven't figured out with how to deal with answering to the public regading the crumple zone issue. Also, any seat that big that folds is not going to hold up well under impact.

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

In today's Sunday Frankfurt paper they said P is going to put the new Cayenne up for sale in spring already!

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

    Oh man!
Ok we all know the Cayenne never looked nice on pictures, but the rear light really look horrible.
I think cayenne sales will drop to much, since there are much nicer suv available at the moment and in the near future.
    Once Again, PORSCHE WAKE UP!

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

It's what you get for hiring a so-called "designer" from Saab. (Everyone knows Saab has no design department) Sadly enough, the rear taillights are shaped somewhat like the 997 update that will be arriving soon.

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

So ugly!!! so strange!!! Kind of a "woooaaaaa I'm going to eat you alive!!! rrrrrooooaaaaaa!!!!" Hope in real it will look so much better

What I don't understand is Cayenne was Porsche's chance to break away and design something radical since it had no heritage a la 911 but they decided to have a subdued and plain design that resembles the 911 .

I guess they need to learn it the hard way.

They need to outsource their design to p-farina or somebody else. There is nothing wrong to addmitting that their design is nowhere close to their Engineering abilities.

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

It really starts to look like an old Hyundai (Santa Fe?)...

The old Santa Fe. The new Santa Fe looks much better than the Cayenne.

Hope Porsche won't copy the Hyundai Coupe as well

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

    Thanks for the pictures Ron

However i must say i much prefer the current Cayenne, i dislike how the headlamps have been slimmed down to bring another apperance, the current design gives it the "Porsche family" look, which for some is a bad thing, but for me it's a good thing

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

.... strange these postings here..... for my eyes it looks fine !

    Greetings

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

I agree with you Gregory, I think it's fine and really, it doesn't look all that different from the old design.

I think it looks good too!
It took me a very long time to come to like the current Cayenne, which I now do, sort of.
This is a very subtle evolution, I like the new front.

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

I quite like the new front as well.

Regarding the old one, It took me some time but I like it.

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

thats the [beep] facelift in the world!
As long as they put the BGT V10 in it

Front is ok, but the back is really bad. To me this is also the weak point of the current Cayenne. I always liked the back or the Touareg.

I have to agree that this facelift is no improvement IMHO. I sure wouldn't trade my Cayenne TT for something that looks like that!

    Any recent news??

It is going to be hard to keep reasonable sales untill 2010 with this... The novolty of the new front and rear does not take away from the general ' old' looking body.

I'm afraid you're right. On the other hand, Porsche always did a good job in hiding new stuff in a somehow old looking body. As far as I know, the facelift will be the most "substantial" facelift Porsche has ever done on a model. The rear btw. is also quite different, even if these pictures don't show it too well.

RC, are you saying that you have seen the new facelifted Cayenne?

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

    Dear RC!

Could you list please all changes from which you heard

    Thank you
    Gregor

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

Hi RC ( autumn holidays are already over here ) ?

Then I will start with my hearing legends:

    - Cayenne S : 4.8 l with 380 HP
    - about 15-20 % less consumption
    - new navigation system (larger screen, Ipod, may be Bluetooth)
    - much improved driving feeling - comparable with 911
    - improved dash board surface (without full leather)

Can you confirm, improve or supplement these

    Thanks
    Gregor

I agree, i am trying to like it because its a p-car but except for the front it is ugly. The wheel wells are too big, the back shrinks unlike the BMW whaich has a much more aggressive posture, and it is no winner from the side. It looks like a GM product.

Porsche needs a new design team. This and the sh!tbox of a panamera we have seen is just too much.

    Re: Cayenne facelift info

Improved direct fuel injection V8 engines? Very likely.
Improved dashboard with new navigation screen? Yes.
Lower fuel consumption? Definetely yes (this was a major issue btw.).
    Different seats? Yes.
Much lower weight? Unfortunately not quite.

I wish I could say more and yes, I saw the facelift with black camouflage sticked to it but when you're staying directly next to the car, you can see all details pretty well behind the black stuff. The interior was only partly camoufled (a black thing put over the dashboard but it was half down, so I could take a peek .
