    New Wheel, what to choose?

Have a question, Mind is a 05 Boxster with 18" Boxster S wheel, I'm thinking to change my wheel shall I go for 19" or 20"?, basically I'm go for the look more than perform.
If I go for 19" shall I choose the new turbo wheel or HRE

Re: New Wheel, what to choose?

Those look the best to me (and that's why I chose them ):

Does your car have PASM? If not, you may as well forget 19" and 20" given the condition of our roads in HK.

You can improve the look by lowering the car a touch. Larger wheels look cool but they are also heavier which means higher unsprung mass, with a negative impact on handling, and in our case, inferior ride.

Re: New Wheel, what to choose?

Is than wrost? Mind don't have PASM, is a stupid first timer mistake, I thought I can have it after 6 month to save the tax but turn out they can only have when you build
Back to question, if I'm not looking for speed, is the bumping is already kill me

I wouldn't say not having PASM is a mistake. The car does ride more comfortably with PASM on our roads, although I find the handling superior with standard non-PASM suspension.

If I were to order my 997 today, I would most likely go for non-PASM suspension. PASM was part of the deal without attracting extra cost so I accepted it. I did not have much experience with Porsche suspension at the time and did not look into the various options available carefully.

As far as I am concerned the only virtue of PASM is that it allows the use of 19" wheels for our roads.

PM me if you wish to discuss this further.

Re: New Wheel, what to choose?

It all depends upon if your roads are as smooth as snooker tables. If yes, YES.
If your roads are like mine, a constant barrage of bumps and holes, definitely NO.

Don't go for 20" wheels, they just look out of proportion

Re: New Wheel, what to choose?

    I would stick with 18...

    Me, too.

Re: New Wheel, what to choose?

I just changed from 18" Boxster S to 19" Carrera S. Can't really tell the difference other than the look... Also installed H&R sport springs (-35mm). That made a difference!
