    Re: GT3 115 bhp/L

Still it's not as fun to drive as mine...

1925lbs and Bruce Jennings' old 2.5ltr IMSA GTU engine (detuned to make only 250 hp from it's intended 285) make for a fun car!

Mithras - That is a sweet ride! What type of carbs/injection on that 2.5L? Is it twin-plug?

I run it with 40mm PMO carbs and electomotive twin-plug ignition. HAVE to have twin-plug even though when I de-tuned it I put an S cam in it still needs the twin plug, makes a world of difference. I can drive in traffic for an hour and not foul any plugs...

The engine used to run with a little hotter than a 908 cam and a TEC3 electomotive fuel injection (both now on my dad's 3.0ltr) and made about 290hp. The fuel injection was fantastic, but fairly costly and was needed on the race-car more.

Nice! If/when I need to rebuild my 2.7RS+ motor, I'd like to make it an RSR clone (twin-plug, high butterfly MFI, 10.8CR Mahles, etc.)

We went with Cosworth pistons in the 3 liter and are very happy with them. I think they are a step up from the Mahles. Regardless, at 10.8 to 1 pistons you will have to have twin plug, you won't get proper flame propagation without it (pistons are too domed). If you need the historical correctness, mfi is the way to go, but if you want better dependability, a bit better power throughout the curve you can't beat the electronic fuel injection. TEC3 is the cheapest (and motec the most expensive). doing it again I would go with the Marelli Engine Management System which is more reasonable than the motec and actually I think a bit better.

You can see specs on it from the place that builds all of our porsche engines www.automega.ca (it's under parts, but look at some of the tubo engines our engine builder Jay lloyds has done, works of art!)
