The suspension geometry is different on the RS. And the rumors indicate that ALL GT3 (and RS) for the US will have a sunroof with no option to delete

I hope that's true, but I don't think your information is conclusion (from what you wrote).
Imagine a scenario where the GT3RS cannot have a sunroof in the RoW, but HAS to have a sunroof in the US (the rumor).
In this case, there would be no option in the order guide (cannot be ordered in RoW and cannot be deleted in US), right?

A sunroof delete option for the 997 Coupe series will not be available for the life span of the vehicle.
Federal occupant crash regulations for sunroof versus nonsunroof vehicles and the resultant engineering expense to meet those regulations make this option financially non-viable, for the small number of vehicles configured.
The GT3 seems to fall under this statement.
