    Car Cover for 987 Porsche wise V. Generic

    Any input on this one? I wanna buy a Porsche one only to find that it is not available and need to be on order. Since I need one soon, can someone recommend me a good car cover if there is a generic one. Those Rennteamates from HK, any idea on where is the best place to get one beside JEBSEN?

    It looks like covercraft and coverking are most common and carcoverworld ships to Hong Kong. However, my only worry is whether the custom 2006 boxster s cover would fit perfectly because some forums did mention covers not fitting. Any input? The Porsche standard one checks out to be 520 USD or so 4200 HKD which is a lot steeper than even the best materials from covercraft/king since Porsche one is only dust proof and designed for indoor use.

    Also for existing owner of 987 Porsche certified cover, can you tell me if the materials are any good? The only one I can get is indoor use only and not water resistant and for 350 USD you can already get storm proof covercraft that can stand up to a moonsoon with your car being left on an island so to speak.

    ptcja,

    I have 2 covercrafts one weathershield and one that indoor wool like strechable one and both work good. The model that i specified is a MY05 987s one and as far as i can tell the only difference with the US version is really with the bumpertte thing for US - but that wouldn't make too much of a difference.

    I've always thought that it's bad to use car covers outdoors because you'll scratch your paint unless the car is always 100% clean before you put on the cover. Beyond the issue of the dust on the car being worked into the paint, the cover itself will trap dirt and whenever you slide it on or off you'll be scratching the car.

    The Porsche car cover probably works fine for its intended use--keeping a clean car clean while it's being stored, but if you're interseted in all-weather UV protection, I think you first need to consider whether or not your car is going to be wiped down every time you are about to put the cover on, otherwise it defeats the purpose that I think you have in mind.

    eslai, it's a catch 22 situation. Wild cats are scratching on my convertible tops. It destroyed my top, the 911 next to me and the Audi convertible top. It sucks.

    BY the way, can someone shed some light on putting car covers on right after you finish a drive? Are you NOT SUPPOSED to put the cover on right after the drive when the car is still warm? You supposed to put it on only after it cools for 45 minu? Just wanna do it right after to save another trip down to the carpark.

    Oh, sorry man--I didn't read that thread until just now. Well uh.. that sucks. I'm told cats hate chili peppers, you could try sprinkling some in the area around your parking lot maybe.

    Eslai thanks. Never thought about that but I have been trying to think of something that they dislike and put some around my car to ward them off. Take a look at the pix on what they did to the top. It's gonna cost me and I might as well just claim insurance. By the way, before the cat was clawing my top, my top looked absolutely brand new and marvellous but now it's like an old rag after 3 or 4 of them treat it as their home.
