BjoernB:I'd stay with the SLS all day
Thanks Björn. The SLS is a keeper and out of question. I have planned to keep it and pass it on to my daughter. Nevertheless - constantly thinking about a modern addition. But - three reasons why I didnt buy anything yet -
You never now - I might need one day that itch to step towards a car and just wanting it so badly that I instantly buy it.

I have three sons she can choose from. With probably just the right difference in age when the time will come.
They are handsome , healthy , sporty , smart , fun , have good teeth and have a dad who owns some nice cars

noone1:Impossible to compare times anymore. The new tires are in no way comparable to old ones. 991.2 GTS as quick as a 488? Right.
In the case of the 488 I am indeed a bit concerned - the Supertest of the 488 was just recently, i.e. I guess the Cup tires they used where of latest production. The 488 test result is a bit weak in the light of the recent events.
Well I directly asked my P source is 991.2 Carrera GTS on Corsas faster around Klein Kurs Hockenheim and on the Ring then 991.1 GT3 RS on Dunlop Sport Maxx tires.
He said NO.
Then I asked are this latest SA results legit?
He said well... Hmm... Yes, to certain point of view.
KresoF1:Then I asked are this latest SA results legit?

What could make it not legit?
73 Carrera RS 2.7 Carbon Fiber replica (1,890 lbs), 06 EVO9 with track mods. Former: 16 Cayman GT4, 73 911S, Two 951S's, 996 C2, 993 C2, 98 Ferrari 550, 79 635CSi
So for you it is perfectly acceptable that 991.2 GTS on new Corsas is faster on the Ring then 991.1 GT3 RS on Cup N1s?
And as fast as 488 GTB, also on CUPs?
New tires are indeed faster. But... Things need to be presented honestly. Or to express the fact that with latest tires 991.1 GT3 RS is a faster car in the track then 991.2 GTS. Or maybe I am indeed wrong? And 991.2 GTS is real track monster?
I'm just curious how they cheated, if they did?
Or is it just a case of better weather and faster track?

The first part of your question I do not have any concerns with: both cars have similar power and the new Corsas seem significantly faster than the old N1 Cups. So the outcome is only logical.
With the 488 things are more complicated. As Ferrari had there full crew with various sets of most recently produced tires at the ring, the 488 being also turbo charged my only conclusion is that - in the light of recent events - the 488 is quite a bit an underperformer on the NBR This seems the only logical explanation to me.
The rest of the picture fits well:
The AMG GTR with the normal Cup tires (i.e. those you can order at the factory) would do a 7.18 approximately (i.e. about 6s slower than on these "special" tires they used for the test, my estimate is based on the relative performance of both tires in Hockenheim, where the normal Cup is 1s slower than the "special" Cup tire).
The GTS did a 7.24.
The 991.2 GT3 will probably be in the range of the GTR, i.e. 7.20 or even slightly below.
The 991.2 GT2 RS will probably be somewhere around 7.10.
All numbers on comparable tires.
Everything would make sense again
everything would be much simpler if they stop comparing new times with old times - by now "most" should have realised that Tires and particularly latest Tiretechnology make up for the biggest difference - I have no Problems with that but pushing sales by saying you're faster than X is pure BS. I mean not so Long ago a 458 time was 7:40 with 570 hp......

Don't worry, Ferrari will use an updated Trofeo R for the 488 Speciale and they will beat Huracan Performante time.
What makes me a bit angry: I discussed the tires shenanigans with a few of my buddies and none of them is really as much into cars as I am (even if they drive some pretty fast gear...). Nobody seems to care about tire choices, they are just comparing the times and are impressed. So I guess tires are the new way to "cheat" reviews, at least for now...until all manufacturers will actually have an "optional" tire available which they can use for reviewed cars.

noone1:Well, if you can get the tires then the times are what they are. Doesn't mean the new cars aren't that quick, it just means the old cars are quicker.
Most of these tires are optional and many customers don't even have a clue that they can be optioned. Have you tried the Porsche configurator? Where is the Pirelli PZero Corsa in the configurator? Case made.

Or the Corsa tire in case of the 488. Or the special Cup tire in case of the GTR
That special Cup 2 for the GT R is only available by special order through the AMG Performance Studio and my dealer has no clue if it is available already or will be available when the first GT R customer cars hit the streets.

I doubt there will be a single GTR user buying and driving these tires. Based on the reports in the press these tires are nearly useless in most conditions and they last few kms before they need to be replaced... This is all a marketing trick by AMG and Sportauto.
sfo:in the UK, AMG GT-R gets as standard:
"sports tyres - exclusively developed for Mercedes AMG, offering greater steering precision and a measurable increase in grip on racetracks"
with "summer tyres" NCO
These are the regular Cup tires - not those used in the Sportauto test

No tire only lasts a few KM, not even slicks on a race car.
