    Satellite Rado

    After having done a quick search of all of the forums here, I only found two posts relating to Satellite Radio and neither was encouraging. Does anyone have information on whether the current Bose system in the 997TT is satellite radio (XM) ready or is a custom install necessary?

    Search on the 997 forums and you should find plenty of info. I'm not 100% sure about the 997 TT but I bet it is the same as the 997. Many people where buying the Sat radio parts for the Cayenne and having them put on the 997. Well Porsche NA pulled the plug on this. You can not even order parts to have it done anymore. I spoke with my dealer and they said Porsche has not come out with a kit for the 997 and they do not know when and if they are. Doesn't make much sense to me but I don't make the rules.

    Bstew, that's disappointing, was unfortunately what I thought that I would hear. I'll bet that it is available as an option in the Z06!

    Thanks for the pics. It seems like it would be an easy option to add and one that would be highly sought after, particularly in the U.S. I will make an inquiry at the P-dealer and see if they have any suggestions.

    Believe me if and when they bring it out I will be in line to get it. I am also going to call Porsche NA to inquire. One would think Porsche would like to make more money but I guess not.

    Rennlist forum has a thread with complete install instructions and pictures. You will need a Cayenne vin number to order the part.

    Have XM in my turbo

    total price $595 installed. XM Commander system

    though not as integrated as the Porsche Cayenne parts approach, alot cheaper and I can see the current song playing on XM while I'm listening to the CD.

    Terrence, did they install a new antennae under the front cowl or did they use the existing one? Also, has your reception for both NAV and Satellite Radio been consistent. In the link that was provided by bstew and drbf, some of the people where initially having some signal issues.

    They use a new antenna which comes with the Cayenne kit.

    Radio reception the same, SAT radio reception great and better than my Mercedes SAT radio.

    I could pull the vacation bit off except my wife and 2 kids and luggage will not fit Besides not sure if the family would like to ride 650 miles in a 997 even with the top down

    It is not a Porsche option for the 997 . One would think that Porsche would make it an option and make money but they have not at this time. One dealer told me not to hold my breath on Porsche making it an option and one told me they thought Porsche would come out with it soon. So who knows.

    If looking for an installer post on the Rennlist 997 forum.
    Many instal of sat radio, maybe one in your area.
