Engine was a treat...that loud supercharger whistle and amazing exhaust sound...if Ford would combine this in a serious sports car...wow... The Ford GT? Nick said that every single one here would want one if we could afford and/or get one. WRONG! If I would get one for free, I would sell it and get the Huracan Performante and the 720S. LOL Maybe the new GT2 RS instead of the 720S if Porsche finally has the courage to put a 7 in front of their hp figure in the GT2 RS.

What's hard to get? American manufacturers make sport cars. Europeans just don't buy them for some reason.
Americans neither it seems I don't know a single American RT member with an American sports car. Do you?
RT is more or less an exotic car forum. Why would you expect members here to have them?
Huh? An exotic car forum? RT has members from all over the map with zero to several cars. Not one American sports car. You find that within expectations?
Next excuse please, I am ready for it
Most members are European, and yes, most people on here have much higher-end cars than an American company even makes. Just looking at the posts in this thread:
Whoopsy -- millions in cars
RC -- $500K in cars
Bluelines -- $200K in cars until you had kids
Me -- McLaren
nberry -- Ferraris and GT3s if I'm not mistaken.
Carlos -- $130-150K 911 GTS
W8MM -- 918 + hundreds of thousands more in cars
Scifrog -- Ferrari and flies private or first class with everyone in his family to st barth
Are there a couple with no or lesser cars? Sure, but the majority of car owners on here are much higher end and European.
I'll be interested to see what Chevy does with the upcoming Mid-Engined Corvette. This could be quite a new performance level at a reasonable price. I also think the current Mustang GT350 is unusually good for the money (but too heavy and big).

I am seriously hoping that GM is going to add some pressure to the market with a mid engined Corvette but they need to do this right. They won't get a second chance if their first mid engined Corvette isn't mindblowing.

Only if GM isn't getting too cocky/greedy with the price tag.

Not to worry, if that happens then half of the members on RT will buy it, following Noone's logic

Tried to change my avatar in order to "melt in" to this tread , but my IT scills are not there it seems Used this car (sports car?) in Dallas in January, but wasn't impressed....
And i to apologize, but now you are stuck with this turned avatar showing a car I don't own, since I don't know how to get rid off it. Guess this means I'm just minutes away from getting banned from RT due to me prentending to be something I'm not and be classified as a internet evil weirdo...?!

What do high value sports cars really matter anymore? Porsche is now a truck company, Ford sells a truck ever minute and even maserati and alfa make suv' s. Porsche leads in profit margin, but I bet they would like to have the Ford truck brand in their portfolio. Just think how much they would charge for raptor floor mats.
The Audi R8 is the most elegeant looking, sophisticated sports gt car out there now. Don't expect a corvette clone anytime soon, but you can get a corvette v8 for way under a 4cyl boxster. You can also impale your self on the spear of Euro luxury and suffer first year resale loss on a 991 almost equal to the price of a new corvette. Take your medicine kids.
Basically you are buying time. I'd never buy a corvette, you can't get your time back spent owning one. Porsches to me are more enjoyable, even if the cost is more.

bluelines:Carlos from Spain:Whoopsy:The cultural difference is just too great. For Americans, 'Let's go racing' means heading to the drag strip on Friday night. For the rest of the world, it means going to a road circuit. Performance metric is also different. They look at 0-60 times first, then 1/4 miles time, then perhaps asking what's the top speed, as that number is a nice fantasy which will never be achieved. But outside of America, the performance metric changed, yes the straight line numbers will be asked too, but circuit lap times plays a much more important role, one can skip all the straight line numbers and just named the Ring time and the performance potential of a car is instantly understood.
How many American sports cars are faster than a 911 Turbo in straight line? Very very few. They are significantly cheaper though, but I guess there is a reason for that.
Because of my job, moved to small town in middle of canada near US border for 3 years. there was just one ophthalmologist that had panamera and me that brought my 911. the rest of town was full of corvette, mustang, challenger. from 16 yrs old till 60. The culture was just " whats ur 0-100, 1/4 mile ",always straight line.I offered them many times to drive mine but they didn't. Heck ,the premier of province also had a same thing when there was a car show. and yes,Never let me into the heated garage they provide for "muscle cars " repair in winter. Not friendly at all.

Thanks, wasn't banned, just got bored..
RC was more than right to get a r8 v10plus. The car is just amazing. You look at all of the offerings in its speed class and hands down its the winner, not just in price/performance but in looks also. I love 911s, but the new audi r8 makes even the 991.2 look like a 80's retro kit car. See a new r8 in person, it's presence factor is unique, classy and bodacious.

DaveGordon:It's about time this thread got some R8-related content. Sadly lacking til now
How about this: The new Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (the one with the "Hellcat" engine) is officially(!) coming to Europe. Price tag is rumored at slightly under 100k EUR, which would be a bargain for such a car here.

We always loved our Grand Cherokee SRT because it offered so much comfort and luggage room. Quality was not the greatest but Chrysler had a very cheap lease offer for businesses only in Germany and the car never let us down.
I was thinking of getting the new GLC 63 S AMG (in my opinion a more attractive offer than the Macan Turbo with it's boring V6 Biturbo) as a small family SUV but now I am thinking about the Jeep. The new Cayenne Turbo or even Turbo S would be the "better" choices for me but I think I cannot really afford them and Porsche lease offers for new models usually suck.

The SUV version looks nice. The "Coupe", not so much.
I agree, the Coupe version is not very good looking. I'm more of a fan of classic SUV looks anyway...
My wife likes the new GLC 63 a lot, so...maybe...
Could also be a nice family car for bluelines.
Does someone know the price tag of the GLC 63?
