    Making me REAL nervous!

OK, some of you guys (RC, Kreso) are making me REAL nervous with your reviews of the 997TT Tip. I spoke with my dealer yesterday and my build date has been moved to July 26. I have a 997TT Tip on order. I know I would be happy with a manual with LSD and am wondering (worrying) if I should change to the manual.

Could those of you who have ordered or received a 'Tip' and driven both the Tip and the manual advise ... having driven both, would you change to the manual if you could?

Also, is it to late to change one month before build date?

Honestly, if you read all reports the answer to your question is quite obvious. Isn't it?

BTW: I think that a month before scheduled build date might be sufficient.

Honestly, some of you guys really want to read and understand what you want, not what I said, right?!

If somebody has second thoughts about Tip, he should go for manual. Tip is ONLY for those who always had Tip or for those who had manual and want maximum possible performance the easiest way (and btw the fastest, at least up to 250 kph) .

    Re: Making me REAL nervous!

Mike, you will be very happy with TIP if you:
-like automatic tranny more then manuals
-will drive a lot in downtown or heavy traffic situation
-do no not plan to trackdrive your Turbo
BTW, RC will be(or is) happy with his car! He wanted TIP from the start!

Manual(with optional LSD) is better if you:
-like total drivers control on your car
-want to feel fast at all times(you do not need to POWER-TURQUE manual)
-like to change gears with gearlever
-will drive a lot on twisty roads or track your Turbo(traction is really better with LSD in these conditions)

Any way, choice is yours! Guy who bought TIP here is happy with his car(he is 54years old, his previous car SL55AMG, he is autobox fan)... My choice is manual with optional LSD.
    Think about your needs...

I think it is something more.. Tip is for users in my opinion who likes to be extremely fast in the straight lines... NOT IN CORNERS! Also it is for men who are more of their time quite tired and dont like to play with the gears, or drive the car downtown..
    This is what i believe..
Unfortunately though i believe that TIP is a better choice if you want to sell your car in 3 years time... (But if PDK is out it doenst matter if the car is manual or tip) I believe all are going to buy the new PDK system.. So I see a big depreciation in all used "old technology" cars...

    Re: Making me REAL nervous!

I'm one of the few who has driven both versions too. I think that Tip is a very capable choice but as some of the others here said, if you really like manual then the choice is obvious. I really like manual but wanted to try Tip out just to see how it would feel for me. I enjoyed the overall feel of the manual too much to justify getting the Tip even though it's supposedly faster.

Finally, I'd strongly advise AGAINST changing your order especially if you want to get yours built on July 26th. Mine was set to be built on August 1st but after having driven the Turbos in Europe I made a number of changes/additions which bumped the production date to October. I was upset initially but realized that I would be getting the exact car that I want so the wait was worth it for me. So, keep that in mind as you mull over the changes. I can also add that the manual version with the sportshifter is EXTREMELY fun to play with!

I don't believe there will be a big depreciation in the manual; a great deal of buyers will always opt for the stick because it will still be more involving than PDK. PDK is not the end all as you believe.
Someone recently did a poll and I think that the stick held a fair amount of the votes.
"Old Tech" does not equal undesirable.

    Re: Making me REAL nervous!

A month left might delay your car...

Concerning your issue about tip and manual you should go with your first choice maybe. There is a reason why you ordered tip, I hope your decision was not only based on what others think is better.

The difference are huge between the 2 type of trannies -- others mentioned the pro and cons -- pro and cons was the same since you ordered your car and since auto tranny was introduced !

My best advice is: you have to go with what your instinct/guts tells you to do -- Don't fight it you might regret it.

    Re: Making me REAL nervous!

anyway i am sure you cant change anything anymore, its too late ur car will be built in a month..
