Porsche would have wanted to be sure its supplier had got the technology right before it started producing CGT components.

    1) "the accused" referred in his alleged article to "body panels". Nick has sneekily changed the subject to "frame" without anybody noticing! Clever! The guy should be a lawyer!
    2) Nick quotes "several magazines". No names, no facts. He really should be a lawyer!
    3) Good to know that the Enzo will not have serious repair problems because of its alloy frame. I'll drive down to my "guess who" dealer tomorrow morning to sign the contract he's holding for me.

Hey, the guy really is a lawyer!
I should have guessed it :
His rational perception! Those analytical powers! The way he lays out the facts! The convincing arguments!

John Grisham could probably write a best-seller based on this thread. Of course, he'd have to change a few details to avoid libel suits from people who felt that they had been portrayed in his work without their consent. He could disguise Nick by casting him as the villain of the piece.

The difference is the CGT subframe is constructed out of CFP (carbon-fiber-PLASTIC!!!).
Magazines use term alloy to describe the other cars subframes and clearly indicate it is more preferable than CFP.

    CF keep your day job.

PLASTIC!!! YUK!!! Only the most ubiquitous material used in modern hi-tech products! It can't be a good thing!

"Magazines use term alloy to describe other cars subframes ...etc." No names , no facts, just flim-flam.

And besides, we all know that magazine journalists really know these things right! (Oh hell! I've just upset another profession! )

"... more professional than .... " well Nick, you should keep your day job only as long as it's not as a teacher of English grammar. If you don't know what I mean, you could go to night school as well.

CF, do you still believe bonding with plastic is superior in strength and durability over bonding with an alloy?

Nick, if you had the least idea of what you were talking about, you would realize that you cannot talk in terms of absolutes like:
    bonded alloys = good
    bonded plastics = bad.

For Pete's sake leave these arguments to the specialists. They can disagree with each other on a much higher plane than you could ever hope to understand!

It is true that Porsche opted to save weight by going with the lighter plastic.
...the structure according to two magazine is is weaker compared to the other cars bonded with alloy (a substance composed of two or more metals or of metal and nonmetal) if struck from the rear.

What I find interesting is the chassis of the CGT is identical to the Enzo and yet JS in his article (undoubtly fed by Porsche) claims the CGT chassis is superior to the others.

This gratutious and untrue remark is an indication to what extent Porsche through its shills are hyping this car.

    Porsche opted to save weight?
Hey, that'll be good news to a lot of guys on rennteam.com who didn't think Porsche was doing anything like enough in that direction.

Thanks for telling us what an alloy is. I'd often wondered.

    "according to two magazines"?
No names, no facts, no test results?
And again, these guys who write for magazines really know what they are talking about, right? They even do rear-end crash tests on cars and then report the results.

Come to think of it, some of them really do carry out rear-end crash tests, but not intentionally. I'm not so sure they report the results though.

    " .... gratuitous and untrue remark ..."
As will undoubtably be demonstrated by the test results you will provide us with.

" ... the chassis of the CGT and Enzo are identical ..."

Just because they are both made of CFC?
Are the San Francisco Bay Bridge and the Hummer identical just because they are both made of steel?

    "Porsche ... hyping this car".

Naaah! A car manufacturer hyping its product? Never! There must be laws against that.

The only reason for my hesitation is the oppotunity to flip the Enzo and make a ton of money.

If this was meant the way I understood it, it just about sums up what has gone wrong with the product liability situation in the USA.
