I don't think so.... I think the guy in the bugatti was sipping his vanilla latte' while having a phone conference in his leather and carbon fiber seat and taking some turns.... noticed that an elise was actually racing him... and then stepped on the pedal during the straight away (which the car absolutely DESTROYED). That car is nuts.... even the guy in the elise knew how that was going to turn out...."Bye-Byeeee"

No, actually this video is quite accurate, if you've ever been in an Elise you'll understand why. The Lotus is tiny even though the Bugatti has the power, the Lotus can still overtake on a tight windy track. It's a very realistic comparison. The Veyron is very much based around hp, while the lotus has the power to weight ratio which is key, Ben

Yesterday my brother with his Lotus Exige ( modified to 280 HP + springs and a few other stuff) was on the Dijon race track with Porsche GT3, Ferraris and so on.
He was faster then most cars!!!! Taking over GT3's and F430!!!! One Gt3 only did beat him.
Each time he goes to the track it' s the same thing. I had a hard time believing him at the beginning .. but that car is a race car. 9oo Kg , 280 HP. Only in the straight lines it is slower, but in the curves it is soooo quick

Agree the Elise would destroy the Veyron in the tight twisties but you have to remember one guy is driving around in a car worth $1 million and the other guys in a $50k go kart!!!!!!!
Although saying that the kind of people that can afford a veyron might no care!!!!!

Most responsible individuals will care. The Veyron may be big and heavy, but it isn't THAT heavy. The driver was taking it easy.

Exactly. The Lotus simply destroys the Veyron in the turns AND in braking. The Veyron in turn destrys the Lotus in acceleration. I know which one I would choose for the track
That said I don't think the guy in the Veyron was trying too hard in the bends either, probably so as not to crash such an expensive car. Either that, or he doesn't have a clue about driving which I doubt. If you look at the Veyron in the bends, he wasn't even close at hitting any of the late apex's correctly. He was tacking the turns as if he was in a motocross bike.

Ben, I have seen an elise and actually had money down on one back in 2002- but it took them until 05 to bring it over when they said it would be there by the summer of 02'. They are quite small-- and look like go carts..... getting out of them is hard but they do accelerate from 0-60 in supercar speed (under 4 seconds) and handle like go cart. They just don't have a high top end speed b/c of the engine and the way it is tuned.
With that understood-- I think if the veyron was actually pushing .... it would have been faster than it was in the corners (remember it is ALL WHEEL DRIVE)... and it would have slowed down faster as well- the straights may have been even quicker.

I actually just jumped out of my 02 C4S into a 05 Elise S2 111S (US never got this I believe due to emissions, and old engine supplier went broke, the 111R which is the current model runs the 1.8 Toyota unit and has been made US friendly with Airbags, ABS, Servoed brakes)
Bottom line, you would never get an Elise to 60 in under 4 secs, more like just under 5, but thats not what the car is about, as the video demonstrates its about braking and corners, the grip is UNBELIEVABLE. To the point where my girlfriend will not get in the car anymore
as she says it feels like a rollercoaster

There have been 2 body shapes, S1 and S2, and 2 main engines, K Series (Rover) in the S1 and S2 and Toyota which is only in the 111R S2, power wise the Toyota unit has the most and each derivative, on paper at least, is a performance increase on the last, ranging from early cars with 130bhp to latest upto 190bhp. But stock, the 111R is only marginally quicker than the previous generation.
