    Average age of 911 owners?

    Hey guys and fellow 911 fans. To keep it short I'm working on project about the 911 and it's success. What I want from you 911 or previous 911 owners is to select the age group you belonged to when you bought your recent 911. It's very simple and just takes 1 second to do.

    Additionally I would be very happy and thankful if you couple write one or two sentences about what made you buy your first 911.

    When I was a teenager, I started forming my own ideas of what made a perfect car - small size, reliable, fast, rwd, great steering/handling and looks. The 911 simply ticked every box and was practcal too (compared to its rivals) so I started saving up.

    In the UK, car insurance used to become cheap/possible at 25 so I worked hard, saved my money, sacrified holidays and ski trips so that when I turned 25 I got the 911. It was a 7 year old 3.2 in Venetian Blue and lived up to my expectations in every way.

    Test drove one. Never liked 911s when I was growing up.

    One primary consideration was a touring vehicle for just two passengers. We looked at BMW, Lexus and Mercedes Benz, simply put there was nothing there that we really wanted to own irrespective of price.

    I also didn't really care for 911s when I was growing up. I grew up in the Midwest and was really a Corvette guy (my dad had three of them).

    I bought my first 911 (a used 993) when I was 26 (I'm now 35). I was working at my first "real" job after law school and wanted to upgrade from the Mustang I had been driving since I was in college. I looked at BMW 3 series and some others but none of them had what I was looking for in terms of performance and styling. Further, every BMW dealer I went to treated me like I was a piece of crap and so I could never give them my money.

    Then a friend at work suggested that I look for a used 911 (at that point in my life I couldn't afford a new one). Her husband had just purchased a 911 and they thought it was an amazing car. So I studied Porsches and took a test drive and then I was hooked. Further, in contrast to the BMW dealers, the Porsche dealers were great. The dealer that sold me the car actually set me up with the receptionist at the dealership and I wound up "dating" her off on and for a couple years. Now that's service! Since then, I've been a Porsche man (now on my third 911) and I suspect that I'll drive a P car the rest of my life.

    Brother bought a new cabriolet in 1984. I drove it around the block and I was done, I was 37 years old when I was finally in position after my divorce to walk into the dealer and buy a brand new 997 Cab-S.. cheers

    I bought my first Porsche at age 19. A 914 in 1974. I knew then that I had to have a 911. In 1977 I picked up my first of 3 911s at Zuffenhausen that March. Next month I pick up my latest one about 200 yards from Werk I where I got that 77 model.

    It's a serious addiction that cannot be treated.

    I bought my first 911 (996) when I was 20. My first car was a 944 when I was 15. I'm 22 now, and my 996 is all but sold to a friend and I can't wait to get a 993. I work at my dads family business (custom cabinetry) and worked at least 60-70 hours a week when I first bought my 996. I'd say that's dedication just to drive what you love.

    Purchased first 911 in 1973 at age 30 after having owned several Corvettes. I couldn't believe how far superior in handling, styling, power/weight ratio, comfort that the Porsche was over the Corvette. Have since owned 3 911's and a Boxster S. Next purchase will likely be a 997 C4S sometime in 2008. VIVA Porsche !!

    First ride in 1972 in my cousin's new 911T. First car in February of 2006 - a 997 C4S coupe.

    I'm not 50 yet, but I'm pushing it. <g>

    I had two automobile childhood fantasies: the 911 (racing model cars) and the Ferraris from Miami Vice (Testarossa) and Magnum P.I. (328 I think).

    I could only afford a 911 at 34 (paid in cash). I'm still fantasizing about a Ferrari, but the prices are double those of a decent 911.

    Never underestimate the persuasion of childhood fantasies during adulthood.

    I'm 31 and my first 911 just arrived at the dealer on yesturday I have loved Porsches since the movie No Mans Land. The curves of the 911 in 88' where enough to make me mad From 89 to 97 I dreamed of the 944TurboS and almost purchased one various times, but my true love was my boss' 965 midnight blue Turbo. I drove it about three times and I knew I had to own a 911. I always thought it woul be a turbo, but the wait for the 997TT was unbearable and I ordered a 997Scab

    I'm 35 ..

    Wanted a car that was quick, reliable and could be used every day. I also wanted a car that suffers depreciation less than most.

    The 996's front offended me. The 997 made it pretty enough for me to buy one.

    I bought my first 911 two weeks before my 45th birthday...it was 30 years after my first experience in a 911. I now regret having waited that long...it has been a life long obsession.

    Got my first Porsche (996 c2) at 23. Now 26 and got a 997. Every time I step in, and drive my P, I enjoy every millimeter of the road, every symphony of the engine and last but not least, happiness is not around the corner, happiness IS the corner while driving a Porsche! Every ride is a unique experience!

    I'll be 44 when I collect my baby at the factory in September- a life long dream realized! No doubt, definitely worth the very long wait!

    I detailed cars in high school. The Porsche 911's were my favorites, beautiful to run your hands over, to clean, to get to know up close, and by far the most fun to drive. It took me awhile, but I bought my first 911 in 2003 (a low-mile '96 993 C2 to have as a "toy"), and after enjoying that so much, I stepped-up for the new 997S last year.

    I bought my first P-car when I was 33 and just tunred 45 with my 6th Porsche When I was a teemager a 911 Porsche in Ann Arbor Michigan was a dream car and there were not that many on the road like CA. If a 911 would drive by everybody would just stare at it. When I came to CA I was 26 and almost every intersection had a P-car or two waiting behind the light
