    European Grand Prix

So guys, Wurz is quickest in both practice sessions today. Does that mean that Rosberg and Webber will be near the top of the grid? Who knows? All I can say is that Cosworth have been really impressive so far this season.

Michael Schumacher was quickest among the race drivers in Second Practice. Will he be quickest overall? I think he could do well in Qualification but I think the Bridgestones may suffer at the Nurburgring in the race itself especially if the warm weather doesn't last.

Obviously Alonso will be quick but there have been some impressive performances from people like Ralf Schumacher. Will Button finally prove his worth. And what on earth is Barrichello up to? Is he asleep? I like the way JPM has been quietly doing a good job.

It's kind of tedious now that the talk of who will drive for which team in 2007 is already overshadowing all the other talk. I guess deep down everyone knows that Renault are consistently the strongest team so no point debating that. It's just whether another team can occasionally steal their glory.

Any thoughts guys? Where's Dr Phil when you need him? LOL

Sweet! I think we have ourselves a race! and there is overtaking in this track unlike Imola

    Re: European Grand Prix

Villeneuve just got demoted to 9th for impeding Fisi - so Fisi's rage wasn't entirely misplaced.

Yeah, I saw the tape from their garage. He actually pointed at Villeneuve and started shouting "Bastardo!" and "I'll get you for this!". That is the best footage of the entire weekend, no matter how the race goes tomorrow .

Seeing Fisico approaching Villeneuve in his garage reminded me of Schumi in Coulthard's garage some 7 years ago in Spa. While it took some McLaren engineers to prevent Schumi from boxing Coulthard, Villeneuve has been lucky that his Italian race engineer has been working for Fisico in his former days as an Alfa Romeo-pilot and therefore was able to cool down the situation

I take thaty back... what a BOOORING race another F1 style single line parade. Not even a little Fisico vs Villenueve ( ) on race action

One thing we can say, its confirmed, Ferrari is the car to beat now, its in another level in top speed compared to the rest of the lineup, and they finally fixed their tire problems. All the Michelin teams went for a very hard compound (stable) in the hope that the Bridgestones degrade and didn't happen, quite the opposite.

Ferrari is the McLaren of mid season last year but without braking every other race and n the hands of Schummy no less.

    Re: European Grand Prix

If you havn't watched the race yet I'd recommend not
    reading my comment.

This season I can finally say something that I could only dream of saying last season: FORZA FERRARI!

    Re: European Grand Prix

Boring, no overtaking on the track... Can't wait for 2008 and the new rear wing design...

I didnt think it was that boring... The in/out pit strategy was the crux of the race, and although it wasn't as close as I thought it was going to be at the last pit, it still was very exciting.

Schumi looks envigorated. Did you see him at the podium? Looked 5 years younger than last year

    Will be a two-trick pony...

    What happened to McLaren!

Indeed! he is realising he has the best car in the line up again after so many months, jeez, even Massa made 3rd

    Re: European Grand Prix

    Disappointing race IMO.
Such a shame that the possibility of real battles have been omitted for the sake of safety.
The Girlieman-Massa-Iceman-parade at the end was a very symptomatic one, and what makes me seriously consider spending my sunday afternoons on needlepoint or something even more exciting.

Girlieman even gave up trying to catch Schumi let alone overtake him. It's simply too hard on these tracks and team bosses dont like the paintwork getting scratched over something as measely as a real man-to-man hispeed fight.

And btw Iceman overtook Button during the first third of the race. So it's possible, but not if youre a girlieman....heehee

The Ferrari tactics to overtake Homonso were nice, but honestly...who watches F1 to be able to yell "wow! What great tactics!" ?

The first 4 cars had a lead of appr. 1 minute to the rest of the pack - and that tells me this sport has gotten SO hitech it's not even funny anymore.
The forst four arent that much better than the rest - so my guess is the cars setup decide the outcome of the race.

At least Schumi is back in grand shape, ready to take back his throne.
Only question is: Does he want his throne back, now that it's smeared in vaseline..???
    Uuhuu!

I dont think we can say this with certainty.

Consistancy will be the key for Ferrari; if they can keep it up and if Bridgestone can keep the tyres warm.

Again, we saw slow laps after Michael's first pit, indicating the tyre issues are not to rest; for more heated and complicated races, the strategies will get bogged down, especially if the F2006 isn't able to tear through and get optimum times when the tyres are ready for it (e.g. traffic).

Renault has been the benchmark in F1 for the last two years not for sheer performance; rather, their ability to consistently stay at the top, while their competitors keep fumbling around with bad luck/mechanical issues/tyres issues.

P.S. Massa's not as bad as you make him out to be...
