Most Popular Colors - Black & Silver?

A friend of mine pointed out the other day that silver is the most popular car for all cars now. I hadnt noticed but he is right. It seems as if every other car on the road is silver.

I also noticed with Porsches the vast majority of them are either black or silver by a wide margin. Than maybe the midnight/navy blues. I think the reds, yellows are much further down on the list.

What do people think of hot cars like Boxsters in hot colors? Tacky - would never have it? Or more La Dolce Vita

Would love to hear some opinions as I am a bright color person myself. I have an Audi that is silver but it seems every Audi is silver

.

I am custom ordering a special color - Mexican Blue. See attached. Let me know what you think.

No question I am of the same opinion as you. Would very much like to see a more interesting color pallette than is currently offered by Porsche.

Looking forward to seeing photos of your car in Mexico Blue, that is going to look awesome.

I am not saying that the black and silver are bad colors. It just seems like every car is that color. Another friend of mine said that people do it for the resale value, they dont want anything odd because people will not buy it.

Mini has a burnt orange metallic that I think is sharp. I would have never thought about orange before but it works.

Here in Europe seal grey or black seem to be the most popular, mine is the only arctic silver 987 of the Rennteam friends I've met. I'd definitely be more adventurous if I ordered another car, either guards red or lapis blue, in both cases I'd have sand beige full leather. With lapis I might even have the painted wheels (on the 19" Carrera S design).

Mexican blue isn't for me, I'm afraid.

I definately agree that Porsche should offer better choices as standard color options which don't cost an arm and a leg like the custom colors you can now order(literally ANY color). My soon-to-be-delivered 987S is guards red with sand interior because I too am tired of the silvers, greys, etc.. you see everywhere. Was considering speed yellow but my wife thought it was too "school bus"! An adventurous color like Mexican blue might be just what the world needs to wake it up and might be pretty cool.
Go for it.

The Mexico Blue looks awesome! (replace the side markers though?).

Silver or grey is popular over here, I guess because it ages well, and hides dirt. Safe, but dull, I agree. Post pics when you get it!

While I like seeing the Mexican blue on the road, I couldn't own it for long. I was at the Bonhams auction last weekend at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, MA. Here's a picture of a Plymouth with the color blue that I would pay every penny to reproduce on a Boxster:

Well you can have that color. At least here in Germany you can actually have any color you like, as long as you deliver a sample (and "every penny")...

Kind of Looks Like The Color Used on Military Equipment

Interesting color. Kind of reminds me of the color I have seen tanks painted in. Grayish-green.

I love the color. Is there even a difference between mexican blue and riviera blue? It doesn't look like there is.

It's more a color for some navy battleships. Or it looks a little bit like pidgeon blue/grey.

I'm not positive. They seem to get mixed up a lot, but from what I can tell Riviera Blue has more green in it like this:
