OK, let's put the shoe on the other foot.
Who is using VBOX timing equipment?
Everybody? Europeans, too?
Check out the fine print in the test summaries or look at the pictures of the test equipment in the articles. It's pretty obvious to the eye.
My info comes from proving-grounds data acquisition industry sources. They point out that one can use no correction, nominal correction, or aggressive correction (or anything in-between: it's free-form) for minimum speed trigger and roll-out distance configuration settings. It's the testers' "secret sauce".
It's no different than adjusting the tire pressures before testing max-lat on a skid pad, is it? Merely adjust the VBOX's setup configuration (once, upon delivery) to give the results a particular magazine's stamp of style.
If one compares different vehicle data by the same tester (with the same "secret sauce"), comparative evaluations will hold up to scrutiny. It's only when trying to "cross-breed" test data from different magazines that all sorts of conspiracy theories start to spring up.
Ain't bench racing via magazine-testing fun?
