I think we should not let ourselves become overconfident. Any manufacturer that does eventually becomes irrelevant.
It would be foolish to hastily dismiss the Z06 as some do on this board. It might be poorly built, but it's a rocket. There is no question it is a serious sports car. The Ring times speak for themselves. And I wasn't even considering the price, which is a real bargain.
However, I would not buy one. I have a hard time owning more than one car (sorry, Mike S ), so I need more than a rough sports car like the Z06. It's just not versatile, not comfortable, not refined enough. The 911 works for me because it's both a great sports car and a capable daily driver.

According to Tom Wallace the performance car chief for GM, they are considering requiring that the Blue Devil and even the Z06 buyers attend a driver school as part of the price of admission.

It is not a hot rod or some 1/4 mile drag racer as already proven by the C6Z06. It will ABSOLUTELY be in the top 3 fastest street cars in the world for less than 1/4 of the price of it's competitors.

And, if standard accounting procedures are applied, GM will more than lose its a$$ on every one of them.
Every car will be a HUGE charitable contribution to anyone who buys one.
GM might as well give away money to its customers, the UAW has taken way more than their share

GAAP or non-GAAP compliant accounting: GM loses money any which way.
As much as I appreciate a great sports car, bargain or not -- GM should save its capital and put it towards other things such as oh, I don't know -- increasing shareholder wealth and paying off debt so they can get their pathetic credit ratings up

What the Blue Devil and the Z06 does (will do) for GM's image is more important than taking the actual money it costs to build the car and pay off debt.

I'm curious as to why you don't think the Z is a daily driver. Its my only car I have up here where i'm stationed and whenever I go out I obviously have to drive it. It's an awesome daily driver and thats from experience.
