    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Some update on GT3 ordering: Right now, you can order PDK only, at least in Germany. Manual orders will be possible starting June or so... Dealers (Germany) already have lots of orders, first deliveries (when ordered now) could be delayed after Oct./Nov., just so you know.

    RC:

Carlos, would you get the new GT3 is the Touring Package includes backseats? Just curious.

That would be "the" car IMO but honestly thinking with my brain I'm not sure if I could justify the trade in hit for the upgrade now, the 992 is just around the corner and I really really like the GTS so the upgrade is relative for street driving, and the sound of the GTS is... if it were earlier in the life cycle I'd be more inclined, and if this was back when I was deciding on the GTS I would choose a GT3 with back seats and no wing over the GTS for sure (as long as the engine and PDK and maintenance was OK with the big mileage I put on my 911's, would be able to fit non cup tires, etc).

I am seriously thinking of getting the new GT3 if my wife doesn't want the GTS Cab (she always said she wants it but she isn't sure anymore because she always needs space for her stuff) but she cannot decide and I cannot wait. yes Not easy. Spring/summer is coming and if I take away "her" cab, she will kill me. angry

The R8 stays...you don't really think I would get rid of this car? Smiley

I was just thinking: I was planning to keep the GTS Cab because it is the last n/a 911 Carrera and in it's most powerful version. Since the 991.2 GT3 could be the last n/a GT3 Smiley, it would be a keeper as well. My dealer is looking for a 991.1 GTS Cab, so this could be a chance but I'm not sure. I enjoy my R8 way too much and the GT3 would be a second toy and a car my wife could/would not use.

In the end, I think I am going to pass but the moment my wife said she isn't sure about the GTS cab, I was already picturing another toy for me. Smiley Smiley Yes, I am too selfish...when it comes to cars. Smiley Smiley

Smiley Smiley Not that easy. It is "our" cabriolet and my wife won't take this lightly, she loves to drive open in the spring/summer.

Joking aside, if you are keeping the R8 I'm not sure how changing the GTS Cab for a GT3 Touring will be that worth it, they are a bit different cars the GTS Cab and a GT3 Coupe, you will like it more but then again for those thrills you have the R8, and your wife is not going to be happy with the GT3 Coupe, basically she looses the Cab and you gain yet another toy. Probably just a first reaction to the fantastic specs of the new GT3...it will pass. I try to tell myself that the moment my wife takes over the GTS Cab or doesn't want it, I will have the chance to switch my R8 for the R8 facelift or the rumored upcoming R8 GT. Makes more sense in my situation. Smiley

Didn't AP say something like "it is virtually the same engine as the cup"?

Do we actually know what differences there is between the two engines?

The Cup's engine needs a rebuild after 100 hours and the GT3 after 300.000 km's?

    All these questions...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

the car seems a great package but the front spoiler is ugly, it might be ok on a ferrari but finds no balance with the 911. the engine stuff sounds good, if finally they managed to make it reliable after the GT3 gen 1 disaster. still i do not believe much of preuninger's excellent marketing talk, so i bet that it won't feel very different from gen 1. after having seen the GT3 i will definitely forsake the GT2RS (probably will get the same front end) and go for the 488speciale.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

    Porker:

I had seen the video indeed, just thought the R had already received that engine. Apparently not.

Biggest indication is the R only revs to 8,500 (the electronic limiter actually intervenes before the 8,600 red zone on the tach)...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

The Cup must have different camshafts at minimum - it makes max power (485hp) at only 7,500 rpm with a redline of 8,500 rpm

Road GT3 makes max power (500hp) at 8,250 rpm with a redline of 9,000 rpm

Also, the Cup makes more torque (20 Nm more), even though it makes less power...

I guess making the Cup run well at lower revs is a key to its longevity (991.1 Cup ran only 50 hours and new one 100 hours between tear-downs)
