    Still waiting for Aston V8!!

MY car arrived at the dealership last monday, and got a call on thurs an hour before i was going to collect it, and was told i cannot pick up the car as it has got a strange noise coming from the rear! and the part they had ordered from the factory had not arrived!the spare part then did arrive on fri ,but when they fitted it ,it had no effect on the noise! so they were keeping the car till they had sorted out the noise!! i am calling them on monday to tell them to either get a technian to come from the factory to sort it, or send the car back to the factory and get them to fix it! it is so stupid how they could sent the car from the factory and not of picked up on this noise! am also demanding i get a car to use in the mean time!!

Must be nice to be waiting on a Vantage, excellent car my friend

Re: Still waiting for Aston V8!!

I wonder what the noise is, suspension maybe?

Nice choice of car Grant, saw the Vantage in the Adelaide Motor show this weekend. Beautiful sight and beats the 911s at it's own game, on the ring!!

Re: Still waiting for Aston V8!!

Any more pics Vinnie? I'd love to see them.

    congatulations ! gorgeous car !

i saw one in germany in front of a hotel i was staying at. all black. could not stop looking at it. it looks so sleek and low with a very high centerline. absolutely gorgeous.

really thought of getting one instead of the 997 turbo i ordered.

however, it's performance numbers do not pull my triggers.

it has no chance against the 997 carrera at the ring.
in fact on a top gear test the 997 blasted the AMV8 and an M6 by a great margin on a twisty country road in the wet.

the biggest problem however with the aston is: QUALITY ISSUES.

i have heard of several recent astons, especially v8's showing problems before delivery or at the first few hundred km's......a real shame....no, actually it's a disgrace

Re: Still waiting for Aston V8!!

as usual aston always has problem like that .

As per Top gear, the AMV8 laps the Ring in 8:03 vs 8:05 for the 997S. Check the attached article.

Re: Still waiting for Aston V8!!

Actually it was german Sport Auto who achived 8.03min time with AM V8 Vantage driven by Horst von Saurma. This time is with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires as Top Gear stated i their article.
BTW, if you put P Zero Corsa's on 997S with -20mm/LSD suspension and PCCBs time on Ring is 7.59min...
And on Hockenheim 997S is faster then V8 Vantage.

Re: Still waiting for Aston V8!!

the real question is, is a proper optioned Aston V8 worth the 20k~ over a proper optioned 997S

for driving in hong kong i would definitely take the aston

For the porsche to be 4 seconds faster it has PCCBs and -20mm/LSD suspension, which the Aston does NOT have. What would the Aston time be if it did? We are splitting hairs here given a 4 second difference on an over 8 minute course.Suffice it to say that the Aston is very capable in its first attempt out of the box. I doubt that any of us would notice a difference between the 2 cars on the Ring. I suspect that if you put PCCBs and a sports suspension on the Aston, it would be faster than 7:59. Regardless of anything else, the AMV8 certainly has the Porsche beat in terms of exclusivity and sheer beauty. As a matter of fact, I think it is arguably the most beautiful car in the world at this time. Enjoy the pics

Re: Still waiting for Aston V8!!

Here is another picture of the Vantage.

    2.

Re: Still waiting for Aston V8!!

My 997S drives like a dream and is much faster off the line then the Vantage, friend just bought the vantage, and I admit it is a much prettier car but we both agree after driving both cars the 997S is a better sports car, not as glamorous as the AM but a better driving machine but

The Aston did 8:03 with semi-slick tyres while the 997S did it as a standard car. Put semi-slicks on a 997S and see it go under 8 minutes. Regarding exclusivity, I agree, but the seeing the problems Grant's car has, I wouldn't buy one.

But Aston doesn't have Tip for HK traffic.

Re: Still waiting for Aston V8!!

I drove a Vantage over the weekend, it was a brief ride though. Hard to get a good feel in a 5 minute ride. It has a great sound around 5k rpms. I felt that the front end of the car bounced quite a bit on a fairly smooth road. I would have to put some stiffer springs on it. Road feel was good, but Porsche has more road feel. I would still pick the 997 to drive if I can only have one car, but would add the vantage to my stable if I could have 2 cars. As far as looks go it is stunning, makes all the other Astons look old in their design.
