Former Ferrari F1 Chief Rumoured To Become Lamborghini CEO.
Stephan Winkelmann is to step down as CEO and President of Lamborghini. The German boss of the Italian supercar manufacturer will leave a role that he has held since 1st January 2005. Winkelmann is rumoured to be leaving to head Audi’s Quattro GmbH division, and will be responsible for Audi’s RS models and the R8. If this is the case, Winkelmann will replace Heinz Peter Hollerweger, who only took on the role in January 2014. Hollerweger is approaching 63 years old and preparing for retirement, leaving the role open to Winkelmann.
Lamborghini are anticipated to appoint Stefano Domenicali as Winkelmann’s replacement as CEO of Lamborghini. Domenicali has previously been Team Principal of Scuderia Ferrari F1 Team in 2008 and later resigned in 2014. Since leaving Ferrari, Domenicali was recruited by Audi and was rumoured to be working on the Audi-Red Bull Formula 1 project, however the project was shut down after the Dieselgate scandal emerged.
