Whoopsy it was the 918 thread. But anyway nice helmet! I might look into getting myself one too. Been awhile since I've bought myself one.

Stand21 is the company that makes all Porsche Motorsports racing gear.

No alpine stars signed the contract with Motorsport since this year. Stand21 is gutted.

Yes, and I prefer the alpine stars race suit design.Smiley

No doubt that Stand 21 makes high quality stuff, but I am not sure I always like their design, specially when it comes to the boots which I find odd.For boots I prefer Alpinestars or OMP. Have the Stand 21 gloves which are ok, and the underwear which is top notch.

Their Outside seams glove is the best I've ever had. Supremely comfortable and the padded thumb muscle is a godsend as mine always seemed to bruise after a couple of days of track driving.

I just posted this in the 918 thread, but it belongs here ( much closer to the topic Smiley )  :

With all these off topi topics , I can't find where we talked about Stand21 !!! Worse is I don't seem to know how to use the '' search'' . It finds nothing with me yes

But I think it was on this thread as I remember Whoppsy showing his helmet . But that could well of been also in the Obama thread !

I was just in contact with Stand21 about my shoe order and asked about the loss of  contract , ( because  I wanted my Porsche sticking in red and they were refusing saying it is only for Porsche official pilots  )

They confirmed they have lost it, but only for the team LMP1.

They will continue to produce all the Porsche Motorsport equipment .

Thanks everybody for nice comments about my RS!

The current plan is to pickup the car on Thursday and do a initial run of 400 km's to get paint protection film (Xpel).

(No Gnil, it will still be white, white is fastest!)

Then on Sunday I will pick it up and drive it the last 370 km home

And all GT drivers, and all staff, they're all Alpine star now. Basically Stand21 continues the stuff you can buy for standard costumers but the works team is now full Alpine star.

Regarding the Chris Harrid video, I can see what he means regarding the road test, the McLaren is in another league, no question.

On the track I will make my own opinion very soon as I will take my 991 RS and 675LT to Siverstone but I suspect the Macca to be yet again in another league, it's a phenomenal car, reminds me of my LFA a bit in the sense that it's not a very well known car, even suffering from a mediocre reputation but it is mind blowingly good.

    Absolutely correct Smiley

The 675LT is absolutely mind blowing, as I said earlier the 991RS is a good car but the McLaren is in a totally different league Smiley

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

@ Futch : really looking forward to our impression regarding the RS ( compared to your previous / other RS ) and impression of the 675. That would be my other car of choice and sometimes wonder if I should of taken the plunge .

@Kobalt : I am also looking forward to your impressions regarding the RS ( even if the white one is a bit slower ) and your liking of the PDK.  I find it fantastic but somehow still miss a gear lever and a clutch. But if I had the choice between both on this car would of probably still go for PDK

I think that the whole car is constructed with the PDK in mind and therefore would not be very nice to drive with gear  lever and clutch. Thinking of it: After one fast lap on the Ring with my (slow and white) 997 I usually needs to change sweater because of the exercise it gives me. In a 991 GT3RS with manual, I would need a "tear-off-sweater".

My guess is that I,at least , will miss the manual and the clutch everytime I want to reverse the RS Smiley

Not yet, the 675 arrives in November, my RS has arrived at the dealer over a month ago but I still haven't picked it up, too busy with work and wec.

I judge my experience on the road after having driven a 650S spider, phenomenal car, really.

That is indeed the worst case !!! A button would be much better then putting that lever in R. Just like an automatic Smiley

+ it does not allow you to reverse with the door open Smiley

That's so annoying. There's also no PDC, so I always open the door to see how much further if I reverse (Lambo style) Smiley

My McLaren 12C will not let me back up or even move forward with the doors open too. :(

    Not good news...

I just had a call from my dealer, there is a note about the Porsche chassis problems (front and back) the said notes they are in the process of finding a solution to this problem and that a reminder can have of places they have found the problem ....

My dealer think changing front and rear suspension not confirmed, but Porsche is try to find the problem and a solution...

Sounds like good news to me: better they fix the problem then that we have to live with it.

I'm picking up  my car tomorrow: I'll ask about this.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

There's 3 things that annoy me about the new GT3 over my old 993.

1). Electronic parking brake. I can only remember to get it right 50% of the time (up or down?). It will set automatically when the door is opened and the car is in P.

2). Reversing in tight spaces with PDK. A MT is faster to make the chance from reverse to 1st and back repeatedly when you are negotiating a tight reverse multi point turn.

3). The new electronic key. Why does it look like a toy and whats wrong with one with a nice steel shank!

2 Reversing a AT makes you look like an idiot from time to time.

3 The key to my 997.1 is the worst part of the car: It is too sensitive so it opens and closes the car when in the pocket and when you are just about to go on track you notice that the frunk has been accidentally opened.
I'm looking forward to a new key. (The key to 997.2 is much better.)

Useless design. This happened to me all the time in the 997.1 when washing the car or on the track Smiley

I asked ny dealer today if they had any information about this. They checked and they didn't.

Maybe they didn't look in the right place. Maybe someone else can check with their dealer?
