Anybody hear more on this? Not the first time this has popped up over the last few weeks.

everything known to date is mentioned in the article I presume.
We would usually recommend saving some cash by now, but the Porsche fan-site states that the model is already sold-out. So, yeah; tough luck – but the Cayman GT4 is still available, and that one can be ordered with a manual transmission too.
I thought that all GT4's were sold out too ?

It appears that car is indeed coming, I've heard the rumor from within Porsche as well as from a potential customer. Really wonder what to expect though, the real 911R was a racecar, so I think we should at least expect a Motorsport engine, probably narrow body and pared back interior.
My feeling is they're going to try a modern-day Singer-like creation, beautiful materials, exclusive numbers and a price to match.

m4ever:I am trying to order one but the chances are quite slim. 918 Customers have priority. Rumours: GT3 engine, no rear fixed wing and manual. Presentation in Geneva. Priced quite above the GT3 RS.
With GTS engine, forget about this car. Just my opinion...

funny my friend's dealer said it's going to be the 4.0L RS engine.
but what do they know ha!.... they took my friend's (refundable) deposit anyway.
if it costs the same as a stripper GT3, I will cancel/sell my GT4 as I want a manual 991 GT3.
but if it's the GTS engine as RC said, then no thank you.
any more info/rumours please share.

I have a bad feeling it will be more 997 Sport Classic than retro GT3

"...the German car manufacturer is allegedly cooking something for its diehard aficionados."
Well, at least the ones with very big pockets
Limited and exclusive with a massive price tag. Hm, I hope I am wrong, but I don't think this R is what I had in mind.

SciFrog:The manual is a big mistake IMHO as would be no rear seats... Still have no interest in it though as it can't touch the 612 or FF in ownership experience...
Talking about the 612, I almost bought one. 2005, black on black, like 6000 miles on the clock, asking CAD$138k. I was one day too late.

GTS engine with "R" badge on the trunk and a manual ? 430hp @ 1,5xx kg.... is this some kind of a joke or as long as people are stupid, why not milk the cow because we at "Porsche" can
The sold out part is one of their biggest BS and lie, who the hell is interested in a manual in 2015 ? maybe myself and very few people out there, but close to 800 limited cars and sold out....
If it's not lighter than a GT4, I will proudly say, screw it and whoever was behind the idea of a rebadged GTS with a manual.
Sports Classic sold for 201k in Germany IIRC and all units were sold out shortly after its introduction. And the SC was more of a parts bin job than this R is going to be. There will always be customers who buy these very limited cars at any price tag.

Was it before you got the FF? Owning both doesn't make much sense...

If they keep the numbers around 5-600 they will sell them all very easily...

That was last Friday. I just see a good deal. Someone else thinks the same

Now this is an exciting car! I have asked my dealer to keep me in the loop the minute they hear anything more.
