Re: 918 latest news
I know this isn't 918 related but remember that nice guy who introduced (track driving technique) the new 991 GT3 in that nice Porsche video? His name is Lars Kern and he is actually a test driver for Porsche. I drove with him in a 991 Turbo S and he never used the paddles once. When I asked him why he doesn't, he told me that he wouldn't be faster and by not using the paddles, he can concentrate much more on the driving itself and exploring the car's capabilities, which is more fun for him. While he was driving, I was actually more fascinated with the PCCB brake than the driving itself because we approached a certain curve at 260-270 kph a couple of times (track was short) and always applied the brake in the last moment, which was breathtaking, literally. Just imagine heading towards a wall at 270 kph and in the last (LATEST) moment, you brake and take a right curve at around 80-90 kph.
Using a stick slows you down and instead of having fun using stick, they have fun exploring the car's capabilities. Of course these guys have fun driving stick too (like I do, drove a 60 hp dune buggy lately in Spain and it was huge fun...with a horrible stick and a brake not even worth mentioning ) but modern cars offer other possibilities to have fun, you just need to be open minded.
Regarding Marc Lieb: He is the son of Mr. Lieb from RUF and a great guy. His father is also very very proud of him. A great talent, as he has shown again on the 918.
